Had the same problem with Tommy and Indebted. Both new shows. Neither matched automatically. I’m running PMS 1.18.6.2368 on macOS. As soon as I selected Fix Match it came up with ONLY the correct match at 100%. In both cases. Makes me wonder if it’s because they are new shows and the information hasn’t propagated far enough yet.
Check the TVDB site directly… I have found a lot of changes they have made that are just wrong…
- episode dates have changed, shows that aired decades ago have current dates.
- in some cases they have combined seasons into one throwing off the season folders.
and i could go on…
Thank God! I thought it was just me! I’ve noticed a bunch of shows whose initial year has changed! I haven’t figured out how or why that is happening but it’s odd.
Same issue still exists. Cannot load metadata for new shows.
As a note; These TVDb API issues affect other applications as well.
One app I use to grab posters, thumbnails etc… has about a 50% hit rate…
Thing is what it couldn’t find in one pass does the next time around, can’t seem to find any common reason other then it just doesn’t return the metadata requested and we know it’s there… Also just because you can see it using a Web browser doesn’t mean you can get it via the API…
Me too… thetvdb have some issue with metadata api
f.e. using them directly i got “invalid lookup 72775”
Have you tried this fix.
Really wish the below feature would be implemented by plex and then I’d just ditch TVDB as an agent source

Yep, suspect related to that - my logs are showing timeouts.
There does appear to be an issue on TheTVDB’s side.
I’d like to add that I am having the same problem and tried the suggested fix by @SE56 . I can get cover art and some season posters, but other metadata like episode titles & thumbnails can’t download.
So far, this is happening with “Cowboy Bebop” & “Married… with Children”. Any updates?
TV Show matching issues from here, checked file structure against standards everything is green and should match.

It appears to be TheTVDB remote API and not Plex.

Wanted to provide an update (not sure it will help). I performed a “Refresh Metadata” on Cowboy Bebop again and 80% of the thumbnails updated along with 100% of the episode titles and other metadata. No change on Married… with Children.
Yup- no TV Show matches occuring here.
Cleared tvdb cache and restarted PMS - made no difference.
I can’t even get matches with The Movie Database with TV Shows.
Are we sure it’s a TVDB issue - other programs I use that utilise TVDB seem to be fine

Same here, I tried clearing cache & restarting PMS and cannot match not even manually by using “Match”. The agent TheTVDB seems to be up but I wonder if this is related to the PMS 1.18.7.2457 update. Since this update is when i noticed this issue. I could be wrong however. Is there an Admin watching this?
