Sorry, I missed the recent posts in this thread. We did respond to another.
I’m trying to decide if I should cancel my Plex subscription and pursue an alternate path to be able to stream hi quality audio (e.g., TIDAL HiFi) through my entertainment sound system. You say above that, " until we address their concerns."
Has Tidal defined their concerns to you? If so, Plex should be able to come up with at least an estimated completion date. Or, is the ball in Tidal’s court? If so, I and the others should petition them for help.
Please provide some kind of prognosis!
Thanks,
William Ackley
Just got into trying to figure out Tidal on Plex. I pay for the yearly Plex Pass because I’ve used Plex forever and am interested in the direction they are going… or WERE going. I’ve been searching for a good way to get NEW music seamlessly integrated into Plex, instead of buying music from another provider, downloading, importing into my library, resyncing on phone, bla bla bla. Tidal integration into Plex seemed like a perfect solution, so I signed up for the free trial.
I use Rokus exclusively in my house (I have 4 of them), am building a Raspberry Pi with Plex Media Player for outdoor music remote control and use, and if I can’t use Tidal on my Roku Plex apps, I am looking elsewhere for a music solution, and judging by the half-baked Tidal integration, I will seriously consider dropping my Plex Pass subscription.
Plex, you’re about to lose a long-time customer. If you’re aiming at bringing in the profits and expanding your user base, you need to start doing better, or you’re going to lose too many customers.
Apparently, it’s a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. My guess would be Roku Channel Certification Guidelines. I had subscribed to TIDAL HiFi for exactly the same reason you mentioned - and I cancelled. No sense paying for HiFi to listen through a phone or computer speakers. Of all their clients, they should be giving a very high priority to addressing Roku issues considering the market share.
Can we have some hint when we can expect Tidal on Roku? Can we get more than “we are working through issues”? Maybe a date when it will be coming back . As mentioned above Roku is definitely a platform that is often plugged into a stereo and could benefit from Tidal Hifi. Sigh… I really expected better from Plex. And to make it more annoying Tidal does not off a Roku app.
Disappointing. I had mistakenly elevated Tidal as being a superstar in the streaming arena.
I just cancelled my Tidal free trial and gave Plex a piece of my mind.
I just wasted my time setting this up as well.
Hoped that it would work across the standard array of devices. I optimistically opened this thread hoping to find a solution for my roku, instead I find this.
This is a huge miss, I dont find my expectations unrealistic especially for the cost of the monthly fee…
roku’s are a mainstream device.
Also, wow december 2018 and we’re looking now at May…and still no eta? Get it together.
Cancelling TIDAL and never looking back.
throwing my complaint in on this one as well… COME ON!
Add me to the list of those ticked off by this. It would be nice to get some type of ETA as to when tidal will be available on roku or if it’s not going to happen to be told that. Just leaving everyone hanging is bad form.
Add me to the list as well.
I’ve always been very happy with the features being rolled out to all the clients one after each other but the Tidal on Roku is taking way too much time.
I’m a software dev/architect myself and I understand complications, unknown issues etc. but we’re talking about half a year now.
And there is not even an ETA?
This is the first time I’m slightly disappointed.
I would like to see this feature figured out as soon as possible as well. I registered for a trial for Tidal HiFi exclusively to use it with Roku integration. I can’t even add the music tab to my interface in version 6.3.
another email from Plex boasting about another service, so i thought why not, signed up only to find out Tidal is not compatible.
Low blow considering i recently purchased a Roku Stick so that i could get the Grid View Live TV Guide as its one of the few platforms that actually support TV Grid View.
Starting to wish i just stuck with Tvheadend and Kodi, It would be nice if Plex picked X amount of platforms and didnt release new features until they were fully working.
Poor Show
Decided today it was time to give TIDAL a try. I rely on Roku devices to connect to my theater, hifi, et al setups. It has been good so I’ll try to be polite, but not having this connectivity is a deal breaker for me. I can be patient, but no way will I keep TIDAL if this doesn’t happen and will cancel before the trial ends (thanks for the generous trial, btw). Listening to lossless tunes through my system is what I want the most and this just doesn’t deliver at this time. I’ll give it some time and hopefully we can all be happy with a great new PLEX feature.
Yeah my roku did the same thing it worked on Xbox but the only reason I got it was for custom playlists and access to a library and not pandora like stations only. Mobile devices google play music works so much better. I cancelled
Add me to the list of unsatisfied customers. I can not understand adding tidal support to mobile devices before Roku which has access to your home receiver. Why bring high quality sound to low quality music equipment as a priority? So far I can not get an answer from Roku either. If this was already close to working in test why the hang up for months in certification?
I am also a duped customer. I signed up for Tidal lossless and spent half a day trying to trouble shoot the fact that I saw Tidal on my phone and PC but not on my PLEX/ROKU system. I finally opened a chat and discovered the hidden fact that Tidal is incompatible with Roku. They might have mentioned this in the ads and sales material somewhere. That may be the most frustrating aspect of all this to me. Do not waste my time! I have been reading that Amazon may be entering the flac/lossless market very soon. I am watching that closely. The total lack of information from Plex makes me believe this i just not happening.
Hello? Hello? Is anyone out there at Plex? Incredibly bad form just ignoring your customers. Is this the level of service we can expect from you guys from now on?
Plex has contributed to this thread already; beyond what has already been shared and until the feature is ready for public release (however that is defined by all the corporations involved), there really isn’t anything else for them to post… Plex also pretty much doesn’t post ETAs, etc.
I can understand that normally Plex doesn’t comment on unreleased features, but that isn’t the situation here. Plex had released Roku support in beta and was actively testing. You had customers signup for the service - and then without any notice or comment you simply pulled the support. People who had subscribed to the service were basically left in the dark as far as when if ever the support would return. It’s now basically August… and we are still getting crickets from Plex. You owe it to your early testers (and btw subscribers of Tidal) to be upfront and honest about what exactly happened and what exactly you are doing to remedy the situation. As I’m sure you’re aware, Roku is the most popular streaming platform by an order of magnitude. Not having full featured support for Roku is astonishing.
