Tidal plex no songs

I think this thread is addressing 3 separate problems:

@Noah0504 has multiple issues where the ability to play Tidal albums via Plex discontinues. Our best guess is that it’s a licensing issue or territory issue, but I don’t think anyone has nailed down a specific reason why.

Me & @Tecko have pointed out several new releases that show up in the Tidal app on release date, but cannot be seen (in whole or in part) through any Plex application. In my case, the missing songs usually show up in Plex a few weeks later. I check back for the new songs I want every few days. The best answer we’ve got so far from @anon18523487 is:

Plex will display all songs made available to us. We do not have any specific blocks. Tidal may have regional blocks and those will get enforced. Why only some tracks from an album show up :man_shrugging:.

I still contend there’s something weird going on with the new releases. For instance, the new Ozzy 40th anniversary reissue of Blizzard of Ozz was on my recommended short list on PlexAmp this week, but when I clicked through, there was no content. I figured that release would have been big enough for someone to take notice, but, here’s my screen shot, just in case. I feel like there should be content here :slight_smile:

I’ve got a few more examples, but I’ll keep checking back every week & hopefully they’ll show up. @Tecko: I’m betting the Cindy album gets completed in the near future. Standby…?

Then @_guy & @rex.2899 have a problem where, even though their Tidal accounts are linked, the Music On TIDAL screen is blank. For kicks, under settings → Online Media Sources → Music, is this “enabled” ?

And one more interesting factoid.

When you do come across a new Tidal single you want to add to your Plex library, and there’s no content in that single, IF you attempt to add it anyway, it will not show up on your home screen under Recently Added Music.

Instead it will show up here under your DVR Schedule:

That’s weird. Unless it does actually reserve the spot in your library when the content is released? For now, I’ll “cancel this recording” :slight_smile:

@Tecko: Looks like the Cindy Blackman Santana album is now viewable via Plex.
Check it out. I’ve got another week or two awaiting some new arrivals.

Here’s a weird one I noticed yesterday. The latest Tool album, Fear Inoculum, is now missing the last 3 tracks in Plex. They were there previously, but I am unsure when they went missing. On Tidal’s site they are there. Not sure what’s going on with that.

Weird. I’m seeing them in Plex. Are you in the US?

EDIT: Wait, I spoke too soon. I added that album from TIDAL to my library. There I see all 10 songs. If I go and browse TIDAL in Plex, the last 3 are missing when I view that album. Weird…

I’m in the US. I can’t imagine this being a licensing or regional issue though.

Well, especially since the songs are still playable from my library, but just not visible when browsing TIDAL as the source.

So, this appears to still be an issue. If you browse that album from the artist page or search for it, it only shows 7 tracks. However, if you search for those missing tracks, they do show up in the search results and are playable…

Thanks for this tip. I was able to search them up and add them to my library and now they show up correctly in the album page.
