TLC R646 - Squished Aspect Ratio?

Hello!

I recently upgraded to a new TV (TCL R646) and it uses Google TV/Android TV. I installed Plex fresh from the app store and put on a movie and noticed something weird. The videos are squished horizontally it seems. The file itself is 1920x800 according to the file info so it should play fine in the 16:9 ratio but it’s very noticeable that the scenes/characters are squished. If I change display settings to Zoom, they look correct but I lose a ton of the scene obviously so this isn’t a good solution. I’ve never had this problem before across several devices (TV’S, Apple, Android) and I’ve tried every combination of aspect ratio/picture settings on TV settings and Plex settings.

Does anybody have any insight? It seems like a Plex bug because the other streaming services play everything correctly.

Update: if I turn Overscan on then off or vice versa in the TV Picture settings l, Plex readjust the video perfectly fine. If I exit the movie and go back, I have to flip the Overscan switch on or off again to fix it again. To reiterate, on OR off, it doesn’t work 100% in the on position or the off position, just flicking between the two causes Plex to adjust correctly. This only happens in Plex, all other streaming services are fine.

I can confirm the overscan switching fixes the aspect ratio for me. Hopefully there will be some kind of update to fix this permanently.
