But I’m still using Plex for Kodi because when I tried to go back to I had a problem with the the screen appearing dark, even though I had set everything up to be limited, passthrough, limited which had been working fine previously, so I’m staying with Plex for Kodi for now.
I covered that here. Not sure what needs to be updated mpv or LE8.

Oh right, that explains why LibreELEC 8.0.1 (with Kodi 17.1) gives the expected results.
So it sounds like Limited | Full | Limited might be the better option with PMP for now?
Thanks.

Did LE8.0 color management behave incorrectly?

I don’t know, I haven’t used LE on this hardware before 8.0.1.
I was surprised to find that limited is set by default in Kodi and the GPU is set to pass-thru at install and it worked fine for video quality, in that I’m getting similar output to my D54250WYK.

Looking at my previous posts I see I did load LE 8.0 on the device but I was pre-occupied with other difficulties and didn’t get far enough to pay attention to the state of the color management, sorry about that.

New FW updated by Intel to fix EAC3/DD+ issues. It is an all encompassing HD passthrough and Samsung TV FW fix.

@raven-au I gave that LE9 alpha build a try. Doesn’t seem to bitstream HD audio on the NUC7i3BNK.

I know @raven-au is already involved with the conversation over at the Intel forums. Here is a link provided by one of the LE devs for a work in progress to fix Display Port HD audio bitstreaming:

Any update on the 1080p@24hz HDMI 2.0 with DD+ (and up) support issues?

On which NUC and OS?

I am hearing some chatter from the LibreELEC devs. They are stating that if you have not bought one of these NUCs yet, you should hold off for now. Does not look like Intel has much interest in getting the issue fixed with these NUCs for Linux (where the HDMI port is bridged with a DP to HDMI LSPCon chip).

Native HDMI 2.0 may be built in with the Gemini Lake and Coffee Lake NUCs.They should be arriving into the market at the end of this year. These should have an easier time getting support for HD audio bitstreaming.

well… that’s some BS. too late now to return mine. Gonna have to hock it on ebay I guess. poor decision intel…

Intel does what Intel wants to do nowadays…Return of the Ryzen!

Intel has patched the DRM drivers and it has been tested and confirmed to resolve the lack of HD Audio bit streaming on systems using LSPCon.

INTEL HBR AUDIO
Initial patches to resolve the lack of pass-through HBR audio on NUC devices and similar with an internal DP > HDMI convertor were published recently. Testing has shown good results on Linux 4.13+ kernels but issues are seen with older Intel/NUC hardware using the 4.11 kernel used in LibreELEC 8.2. As a result these patches are not suitable for the 8.2.0 release and this minor issue will be resolved with LibreELEC 9.0 in the future.

So what is the latest on this, for passthrough (bitstreaming)?

Dolby Digital (AC3) - supported
Core DTS - Supported
DTS-HD MA - ?
Dolby Digital Plus (DD+ / EAC3) - ?
Dolby Atmos -?
DTS:X - ?

Its been resolved in the Linux kernel. LE9 will contain this fix. When LE9 final is released, a rebase of Embedded PMP can occur. Until the LibreELEC devs are done, there is nothing else to report.

Does the Plex Team automatically rebase/update the embedded PMP when LibreELEC 9 comes out?

I can not speak to that.
