It would seem that if Plex is fetching those trailers for that new (to us free users) Discover area, they would come in handy for being the trailers used before watching content. I still get the same exact ONE trailer for the movie The Hidden (great movie) regardless of setting it to “unwatched only” or 3 trailers before. Am I missing a setting that enables those trailers to be used? I didn’t see anything but that surely doesn’t mean it isn’t there.
Have you restarted PMS recently? The list of trailers is obtained when PMS starts so if you haven’t restarted PMS in a while, you’ll have an old list.
I have, and saw there are a handful of trailers listed under “trending trailers” and I am wondering why those do not play at the beginning of watching a movie when that is set to under the “extras” area on the PMS and on the client I have it set to play 3 trailers (trying to see more than just the Hidden one, I really would prefer to see one)
Streaming Cinema Trailers that play before a movie requires a Plex Pass. Since you don’t have a Plex Pass, you likely have that Hidden trailer somewhere in local files that got picked up as a local extra
Ah, so this option “Include Cinema Trailers from movies in my library” means if there happen to be any trailers in “unwatched” movies I have, it is using those but only plex pass gets actual trailers from other locations. The option looked a little misleading but I get it now. I was reading that as it would find trailers from unwatched movies in my own library from outside locations. Thanks for the clarification
Here is a support article that explains all of that. Cinema Trailers, Extras, & Related Albums | Plex Support
