Transcode 4K

Hi

I bought a new PC and since then ( or maybe pure coincidence ) I have been unable to transfer a 4K movie to my iPad nor watch for more than 30 mins a movie without a failure.

“Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error” - occurs during playback but nothing obvious during conversion when syncing.

Happy to provide log files but not sure how to … apologies.

Thanks in advance.Plex Media Server Logs_2018-07-23_21-32-22.zip (2.2 MB)

You may also wish to check: SOLUTION: Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error

I have added the log file.

I have also updated to latest Win 10 version following other comments around this topic

Tested and failed again.

Read your other thread and this has never worked on clean new PC. Yesterday I wiped old PC and getting same issue now.

Any thoughts suggestions on this - clean build PC failing on every 4K movie

Does the issue arise also when hardware acceleration is disabled for the transcoder?

Just tried again with Hardware acceleration disabled and same issue

“The transcoder was unable to process this media.”

Tried 3 more movies and same issue.

Is there anything that can done on this or at this stage should I be looking at alternate solutions ?

What I have and have done to test;

PC1

Win 10 1803 17134.191
Intel Core i7 8700
Memory 32GB
NVidia GeForce GTX1070

July 10, 2018—KB4338819 (OS Build 17134.165)

PMS 1.13.5.5291

5 Moves all 4K
All failed with Hardware Transcoding Enabled and Disabled.

PC2 - Clean Build 2 weeks ago.

Win 10 Pro 1803 17134.191
Intel Core i7-3770 CPU
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660

Windows Updates

July 10, 2018—KB4338819 (OS Build 17134.165)

Both are connected to USB3 External Storage.

At this stage I’m almost ready to start using Handbrake and iTunes.Plex Media (2.3 MB)

I’d appreciate any ideas at this stage

EDIT

Just notice this thread and all content is TRUEHD

Well I figured it out in the end … if I delete the TRUEHD audio track I can sync.

So either downgrade and I can be mobile or keep as is and can get best experience on home video/audio.

I can stream fine on iPad TRUEHD content so I’d have to call this a bug.

An issue has just been discovered with the transcoder and TrueHD where there is a memory leak - it could be that but I would exoec5 to see references to memory allocation failures in the logs - do the logs you added cover a test with hardware acceleration disabled ? There may be separate issues affecting hardware and software transcoding
