Buongiorno,
sono un neofita di plex e sto cercando di realizzare la configurazione ideale per la corretta fruizione dei miei contenuti.

Al momento ho questa configurazione:

Samsung 55H6670 connessa alla rete gigabit di casa con installata app Plex che preleva file dentro ad un vecchio NAS. Il server Plex è dentro il PC fisso con con AMD Phenom 8450 triple core e 6GB di RAM.

Vorrei evitare di dover avere sempre il PC acceso e stavo pensando ad un NAS di maggiore potenza dove mettere Plex Server.

La domanda che mi faccio è questa: con quella TV l’attività di transcodifica chi la fa? TV o solo Server Plex?

the server (in your case NAS) is responsible for transcoding.
you should be fine as long as you’re not doing simultaneous streaming on more than 2-3 devices I think.

I’m asking a different question: Does the Plex Server make a transcoding or going on direct play if I saw h264 or other files supported from TV?

If going direct play the NAS power should be non to high, only for supportiPlex Server

Che se va in direct play la potenza del NAS non deve essere eccessiva ma supportare solamente Plex Server e basta

on your server admin interface go to Settings - make sure Advanced is on and then click the tab Server > Transcoder and you can adjust settings there (default is Automatic).
I my plex app from Samsung TV i can also choose default quality but it’s automatic there also and my server gives original file quality over my LAN. I think you should look for the setting in your player and by that you can adjust the power levels your NAS needs.
