Hello, i have recently started using the plex on my samsung 2015 model Tv. So much better quality than on the pc.
But my some of my files are transcoding, this tv supports almost every fileformat, so i have no idea why it does that. Could someone I have taken som screenshots if that helps.
Is it because the tv doesn¨t support SRT files, if so is there anyway to burn them into the mkv file for instance. If this is possible, is there any way i can do it with multiple movies at the same time? Would take a lot of hours to do this to 500 movies…

If you are using subtitles then that may well be why the files are being transcoded. You can use Handbrake (PC/Mac) to ‘burn’ the subtitle into the file, but be aware that this makes the subtitle permanent. You will not be able to turn off the subtitle nor will you be able to change the language or the timing of the subtitle in any way, so make sure you have the correct subtitle and that it is timed correctly.
You can use the batch function in Handbrake to re-encode the videos with subtitles for as many files as you wish to add.
Also, judging from your screenshot, you need to correct your file names so that they follow the Plex file naming guidelines. This will help avoid any issues with adding files, matching and downloading metadata etc.
tried filebot, but it didnt seem like it could find the proper name on anything… Not sure if i did it quite correct either. Just marked all my folders and dragged them into filebot.

FileBot does have a learning curve, but if you read the documentation then it should become apparent on how to use it correctly.
I’m no expert on FileBot, but I have managed to add a script to uTorrent that fires it up automatically whenever a file finishes downloading, apart from that I haven’t done anything with FileBot. I tend to manually correct any issues with file names etc. before they get to my media folders, although with FileBot that is a rarity.
If I am not mistaken, add your list of files in FileBot and then click on ‘match’ and select ‘TheMovieDB’ for Movies, TheTVDB for TV Shows etc.
Add the template to FileBot if you need to by clicking on the ‘presets’ button, lower center of window. Otherwise, select the Plex preset that should be present.
That’s about as much as I know for manually using FileBot … :))
That utorrent thing was really smart, il try and read me up some more tomorrow. Can it Also rename SRT files or do i need a other program for that?
Filebot will treat your subtitles as well, if you use the {plex} format schema in its preferences.
I don’t think the subtitles are the reason.
As far as I know, the Samsung app cannot extract the DTS ‘core’ audio from a DTS-HD MA stream. But what the Samsung app is able to ‘bitstream’ is only DTS Core. This could be the reason for the audio transcode.
The Samsung app has also an icon on the left screen side where you can select the play mode.
Auto, Direct Stream or Transcode
Which did you select?
Is your TV connected to your server by ethernet wire or are you using Wireless?

I am using wireless. But i am going to wire it later today, its hanging on the Wall so its a 2 mans job
Havent selected anything in the app yet, still Learning all the functions.
anyway, installing windows 10 on a bigger SSD now. Because transcoding on a HDD way to slow. Especially when the libary is so big the “cover pictures” on the movies takes a few secounds to load.
Tried filebot, but i don’t think it manage to change anything. Might aswell just change it myself. 500 movies and 50 tv shows. Probably take a couple of hours, so better man my self up and find some good music.
But should i rename the folders and movies like this? folder: deadpool 20; mkv file deadpool 2016; SRT file deadpool 2016.EN ?

Do you mean within Plex or within Handbrake?
Generally, as slow as you can bear.
Within Plex it will improve quality,
in Handbrake it will more likely improve the efficiency of the encode i.e. smaller file while quality won’t change.
I will try some more later today, after i ran filebot my plex libary got reduced from 500 movies til 290 movies, so il have to go over folder and rename it manually i think…
Jesus f… i am having issues with sharing my hard drives on local network with windows 10. Making me so frustrated and mad. Anyone have a fast tutorial for this? usually i left click and take properties on the disk. sharing->advanced sharing->add “authenticated users” -> full control. But now i am getting error after error when i do that.
!update! I can now stream atleast deadpool at directplay. The mkv had inburnt and external subs. I deleted the external srt files to make it look more clean. Haven’t changed anything regarding audio either. 5.1 surround works through ARC. Everything is working really smooth so far
There is one small hicup. i have 4 languages burnt into the mkv. It seems like i have to change between them a few times to make it change the language. When i started the movie i choose norwegian subs. When the movie played it was danish subs. Went into settings and it stod norwegian subs. Changed around to sweden etc. Changed back to norwegian and it now started giving me the right subs. Exited the movie and tried to play it at the same time i left it on. Started playing, but now with danish subs. Checked settings and it stood danish subs. Changed between swedish and norwegian subs, and it started displaying norwegian subs again. Is there a fix for this? or just a bug?
update nr 2. It still plays directplay with external SRT files named correctly. I guess the transcoding yesterday came because of the weird names on the files.
