"Trending Trailers: Discover" reappears every day after being unpinned

The Bug:
Every day, I open Plex player on my Apple TV and find that “Trending Trailers - Discover” has re-appeared on my home screen. I unpin “Discover” from the sidebar, and it goes away, then the next day when I open Plex again, it has reappeared.

My commentary:
I’m really mad about this. I watch things on Plex to escape from the world. Now, every single day when I get home from work, I’ve got these horrible trailers of pop-culture garbage in my “safe space”. It makes me very angry. This is a really bad user experience.

In case the Plex product management team actually look at this (lol), I’d also like to provide some feedback: I use Plex for my personal media. I don’t want streaming services. I don’t want you to provide me “algorithmic” or “trending” content. I only want to see exactly what I put in my Plex. Every few months, you add some feature which shoves someone else’s garbage content in my face, and I have go looking in either the client or the server for the button to turn it off. It’s bad enough that I have to do it once every so often for your new “features”, it is absolutely infuriating when it doesn’t stick and I have to do this again and again and again.

Frankly, I am feeling quite idiotic that I bought a lifetime sub to Plex, and I should contribute as a developer to Jellyfin instead to bring it up to the standard that I would like rather than spending any more time on Plex. To go to the Plex support page and be told “lol go post in the forum” is a slap in the face.

As an aside, if someone can provide a method of permanently disabling any “Discover” content, I would really appreciate it.

The same thing is happening for me and I came here hoping to find someone else with this issue. It also happens with the Watchlist feature, which I also don’t want to see on my Home menu. I raised this in the Plex forums on Reddit and was downvoted.

Despite the obvious frustrations at not being able to control what content is displayed on my player’s Home menu, I’m particularly irritated because I have a Home User account for my young daughter, and despite having content ratings restrictions in place Discover displays content which is highly inappropriate for someone in her age range.

I’m a lifetime Plex Pass subscriber, and it feels like this feature (and its content) is being forced on users who have already paid for Plex’s products and services. It’s not what I signed up for.

Under app.plex.tv goto settings and Online Media Sources and then disable what you don’t want, I’ve everything disabled

That will remove 95% of the discover features but won’t disable discover credits which atm cannot be disabled. Regardless, disabling the rest may help you get back to a cleaner personal content.

See https://support.plex.tv/articles/discover and the last section in the article.

I have done that previously. Unfortunately that doesn’t stop the Discover Trailers and Watchlist appearing in the Apple TV app.

Still happening. I paid to have unsupported software. Grr.

Please, someone at please, read this. It’s so bad.

This magically resolved itself for me, for now. No guarantees that it won’t come back in the future.

Given the entirely unsupported nature of this software, I’m saying sayonara to Plex anyway. What happens if I have another issue? Or a bigger issue? Go f’k myself, that’s Plex’s response apparently. If I have to provide my own support, there are better options.

Would it really have been so hard to employ a real human being to provide a smile and reassurance that Plex takes these concerns seriously? I guess they already got my money, so why bother.

it is a known issue we are looking into. I’m sorry i don’t have more info to share about it.

I’m glad to hear that but I’ve already started using jellyfin because of my frustration with Plex.
