For me, at least, this one’s tricky. I’m ripping this Star Trek Anthology. It’s a completely random mix of TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise. I ripped these to my TV Shows folder. Each show gets it’s own folder, with Season sub-folders. Then, each episode gets put into the appropriate folder and named s03e04.mkv, for example. They show up just swell as 5 different TV shows with some scattered episodes in each. Cast info and pictures, etc., show up for each show. So far, so good, except that DVD order is nowhere to be had.
Then, I tagged each of the 5 shows as Alternate Realities in the Collection field. They all get sucked up into a collection called - unsurprisingly - Alternate Realities. At this point, I can play, say, all 4 episodes from TNG if I drill down. But, I cannot play the master collection itself. I get the error “An error occurred loading items to play.” I think this makes sense, because I don’t think a collection like this would know what s04e19 means.
I do have a workaround, which is that I just copied them to a new folder, named them 01-episodename.mkv, 02-episodename.mkv, etc., and I can play them in DVD order. Unfortunately, I lose all the cool stuff that normally gets pulled from TVDB.com. So…
Anyone have any recommendations on how to have this be a TV Shows collection, with all the info to be pulled from TVDB, and the collection be playable, in DVD order?
Like I said, I think this one is tricky! (Or, not possible)!
