There is no point in re-enabling it in Windows, because:
When Plex was trying to contact its metadata servers using the IPv6 protocol, it failed. Because your ISP and/or your network is not able to (fully) work with IPv6.
Which is very likely what caused the failure to fetch metadata before.
As soon as you ruled out IPv6, it started to work.
You are welcome. I have no idea how I found that answer but it happened to me years ago and that is how I fixed it.
Mine started working after downgrading from the latest beta version.
