Hi all, I’m in the process of migrating my Plex instance from my home server to a Hetzner cloud instance. I’ve been struggling for the past few days, and I’ve run out of ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
System Information
Server Version#: 1.42.2
OS: Ubuntu 24.04
Cloud Provider: Hetzner CPX21
Issue
After logging into the web application and upon clicking “Next” after naming my server. I’m met with the following errror.
Reproduction
Begin with a new server. UFW is running with the plexmediaserver application (below) allowed. Follow the instructions in this guide: Install and Configure Plex Media Server on CentOS 8 .

Things I’ve Tried
- Claim Plex server manually using: How to Claim Your Plex Server - Plexopedia
- This results in the server showing up under my accounts, however I get the error “Can’t connect to server securely”
- Disable firewall (just in case)
- Accessing Plex Media Server web interface through private browser (clearing site data)
