Trying to enable 2FA but getting "Invalid verification code" message

Hi, I’m trying to enable 2FA, especially after the most recent breach, but even though my Google Auth app is scanning in the QR code properly, the code I enter into the verification field isn’t valid (“Invalid verification code” is the error message I receive). I use this app for many of my other accounts with other services and I’ve never had this issue with them. I’ve tried removing and re-adding it multiple times, as well as trying to type in the text code itself. Neither has worked.

What might the issue be?

I am having the exact same problem.

Changed Password, tried to login with new password and 2FA.
Got Invalid Verification Code error
Removed 2FA successfully
Tried to add 2FA again both via QR Code and manually entering the Key
Both failed when entering the Verification Code
Tried both Google and MicroSoft authentication apps

Any ideas??

Same issue. 2FA broken on web app even when using text code.

+1 Attempting to enable 2FA results in “Invalid verification code” with QR and key using Google Authenticator.

So you are scanning QR code with Google Authenticator app and it is not creating a Plex entry in Google Authenticator?

No, I’m scanning the QR code, it’s creating the Plex entry in Google Authenticator, but the 6 digit code it provides isn’t accepted in Plex as valid for the 2FA code.

Can I as what version of android is on your phone and what version of Google Autheticator.

Just tried and unfortunately cannot reproduce.

In Authenticator when it creates the entry is it naming it with your username. It should be like
Plex (Plex_BigWheel)

I’m using 5.20R4 according to the Google Play Store listing. Android 8.0.0.

I ended up switching to Authy instead and had 0 issues setting up the codes. There must be something wrong with Google Auth codes and Plex (out of sync?).
