Hi All
Had this issue a while back, which was resolved be uninstalling/installing the App. Unfortunately this does not fix the issue this time round.
Does anyone here have something that can help me get my plex back in working condition. Thanks in advance
If you fully power down the XB1 (hold down the power button for 10s) and then restart and start the app, do you see the Plex logo and the spinner?
This potentially can be if you have network connectivity issues (although it should time out after 30 seconds or so). Does it spin ‘forever’?
Hi Dom
Thanks for your reply… will try the full power down later today, and keep up me hope that it fixes the issue
Yes I see the plex logo and the spinning ring below… which doesn’t time out after 30 secs. Not sure if it spins forever, but for longer than I had the patience to look
Hi again
Tried the full power down, which unfortunately didn’t change anything… Plex logo and spinning ring to infinity
How infuriating.
I’m clutching at straws a bit, but would like to try and get the app back into its initial clean state. Can you try unlinking your account from here - https://plex.tv/users/edit - scroll down to the ‘Single Sign-On Authentications’ and delete authentication. That should trigger a PIN entry on startup of the app.
Hi again
Thanks for this suggestion…that apparently got mea bit further. Now I can see the servers in the top right corner, but if I choose my own, the ring is back just turning in the center of the screen.
I can choose another server, which seems to work. :-/
Progress!
Ok, so now could you please enable ‘Server logging’ in your settings, and send me your PMS logs when you try to change to your server?
Hi Again
Sorry could you specify where I need to enable this. I assume that its under server in setting.
help please
I am not in front of my xbox but if I am not mistaken you have have to press the menu button on the controller (right to the Xbox Logo-Button) and go to settings.
Sorry, left you hanging there.
When using the Plex app on the console, press the triple line ‘menu’ button on your XB1 controller and choose settings.
No problem… really had issues getting to be able to do this, but finally managed. Server logging is not enabled. Where can I see the logging info, and get it to you ?
You can find the logs here
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200250417-Plex-Media-Server-Log-Files
It´s maybe a good idea, to restart Plex server and then do whatever is going wrong so Dom C gets a fresh set of logfiles.
Investigated further, and it seems like a Xbox (only) releated issue. I have tested on both a ONE and a 360, last mentioned via both my internet connections and in all cases it doesn’t work.
Is a never server version been added needed for the Xbox App to work ?? I have tested on PC and Android Phone, both work fine on the same networks ans my xbox’es are on.
On what server version are you on ?
If you are only 1-2 version back I would say no problem. If it´s a year old you might try a current version
I’m running 0.9.11.7 on FreeNAS
I have the same issue on Xbox One only. Server plays fine on Roku, and IOS devices. I have deleted the app and unlinked my account more than once but I still get the “Error Unexpected Error Message.” I’m running 0.9.12.11.
Here are my logs:

Just tried to update and remove users, but still same outcome. A bit confused though, as I Can see my friends server (he also have same FreeNAS server type and version as me) but not my own
Ok. I don’t think it’s a server version issue then. Did you manage to grab some PMS logs for when you switch to your server?
