PMS doesn’t pull metadata for new tv shows! I’ve been having this issue in the last few releases of Plex, however I was able to roll back to an older release (1.3) and the issue went away. Recently when attempting to use Plex via web browser I was informed that the server had to be updated in order to continue accessing it. I saw a new release had dropped, and that some metadata fixes were in the release notes, so I updated hoping the issue was resolved, but it doesn’t seem to have been.
I haven’t found anything telltale in the logs, but there are quite a bit of logs to poke through and I haven’t had a lot of time to dedicate to it.
My naming convention is as discussed https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200220687-Naming-Series-Season-Based-TV-Shows
I’ve asked here on the forums before, and on Reddit, but to no avail.
There’s a couple factors involved
- The file type (if MP4) and embedded names/titles/tags in it (confusing information in it will confuse the agents and prevent ‘matching’)
- Some users have problem with their in-home networking and IPv6 (some ISPs don’t do V6 right. None of Plex uses V6 … hence the problem).
You’re the second person to tell me you’re having problems.
After you go to one of the files with trouble and try to get the metadata again, after it fails, Please go immediately to Settings - Server - Help - Download Logs. It will present you with a ZIP file you can upload here.
We’ll look at it and see what it’s complaining about but I suspect you and the other user might have found a regression we need to fix (again) as well as alert QA to change how they test for it.
This is a windows server bug and plex. follow this thread here. There is a workaround for importing the ssl cert into windows. https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/247645/metadata-not-downloading-in-full-if-at-all/p1 if you open up tvdb log file you will see the ssl errors
