Tv miniseries not showing when select "library scan" in the tv folder on plex

My setup is my Plex server is on my laptop. I watch Plex on my Roku.

I have my miniseries downloaded to my computer, I initially put it in as a regular movie. (there are actually 6 episodes). Then I read that you should really separate movies and tv. So I created a tv shows library folder. I have read the instructions for the naming of a miniseries and followed it and then I go to the plex home page, hover over the 3 dots next to my tv library folder and select “scan library files” and then it says that there are no files in the library.

I think I am losing my ever-loving mind!!!

I have gone to the TVDB page and found the miniseries (Pride and Prejudice (1995), and all I see are the hyperlinks to view it. I see nothing on there that shows how the wording is to be formatted. On the Plex instructions, it tells me to go to the TVDB and look at how the show is outlined. IT DOESN’T SHOW IT!

So my conundrum is this: how is it to be formatted? I would really like to have it show up in my tv library!

Here is how I have it. I have only done one episode, as a trial.

completed tv series/Pride and Prejudice/Season 1/ Pride And PrejudiceS01E01

Then I go to Plex and I get bubkus! Please, help this overworked mama out! I just want to watch Mr. Knightly!

“completed tv series” is the folder you have set for your library correct?

You can see how i just named mine in the folder window at bottom of image. There are multiple versions of Pride and Prejudice which is why i have the year in parenthesis there

Try this instead:
completed tv series > Pride and Prejudice (1995) > Season 01 > Pride and Prejudice (1995) - S01E01.ext

Notes:

  • ext refers to the file’s extension/suffix.
  • the reference to “check the name on TVDb.com” means to check how they have named the show, not the files. In case of Pride and Prejudice there’s tons of different versions, hence they have included the year the show first aired in its name (Pride and Prejudice (1995)).
  • The “show name” part in the main show folder and the episode files should match – so if we include the 1995 element in the show folder, it also should be in the episode!
  • Keep a separator / space between the show name and episode identifier sections (e…g [space]-[space] – or at least a single [space])

PS: I only noticed after posting that BigWheel had already included those details in the screenshot posted above

Thanks for your reply. I have looked at your reply and the one below it and tried both ways. It is now showing episodes 1, 5, 6. For some reason, no matter what I’m doing, it will not load onto plex episodes 2, 3, 4. I just don’t get it. I’m about ready to just watch it on Amazon Prime! ugh.

Update: I opened the folder in my drive and realized that there was an extra file for viewing the episode that didn’t need to be there. So I deleted it and then updated the library scan and PRESTO! I now have all 6 episodes!!!

Thank you so much for your help! It has definitely been a learning curve adding tv shows.
