Hi there,
I saw that this problem was discussed many times (also on different devices), but could not find a helpful answer, so:
I wanted to migrate all my video files from iTunes to Plex, because I wanted to have my media running on a NAS. All files (movies and TV shows, all M4V) have been tagged completely with MetaX. Before getting a NAS I've tested Plex Media Server on my Win 7 64 PC, and everything worked so well, that I've bought a QNAP-TS 870 Pro for running Plex on it. While the PMS on Windows 7 has imported all my video files from iTunes perfectly (with embedded cover arts, titles, description and so on..) the PMS on my QNAP just doesn't want to.
So I scanned the movies there with the TMDB Agent, which is OK for me. Some Movies were tagged wrong, but I could get it work in the end.
Now the problem: I cannot do the same way with TV Shows, because my TV Shows wont display correctly if I use the TVDB Agent, so this is no solution for me. By scanning them with the personal media Agent (Local Media Assets (TV) on top), they have exactly the same order that they had in iTunes, and I want to keep THIS order, because some TV shows bought on iTunes have another order there than on TVDB.
While the order is OK, the files have no artwork, no genre, no content rating, no description. Just the order from show -> season -> episode number and episode name is correct, but that's it.
How can I get Plex on my QNAP NAS to import the embedded metadata as PMS on Win 7 has done? I've used the same settings and have the newest version running. Also I want Plex to play the background music for the TV Shows, without having TVDB Agent retagging (and messing up) my shows.
Some shows were bought on iTunes, some I've imported and tagged myself (using Handbrake and MetaX). Plex on QNAP doesn't read the metadata in both ways.
So, what do I have to do? On Win 7 everything worked perfect, why not on QNAP?
Besides the metadata issue: How to get the background music for shows working without messing up everything (with TVDB, TMDB Agents)?
Any suggestion, solution or help?
Kind regards,
Christian
