TV Show metadata not working - again?

Hello,
Added some new tv shows to plex and didn’t get new metadata for it, looks like the server for scraping the data is down once again. Anyone has similar problems?

Yea - for the last 14 hours:

http://thetvdb.plexapp.com/ - Mostly Dead
http://thetvdb.com/ - CPR and Cardio-Shock seems to be working, but the patient may lapse into death again at any moment.

Why does this happen again and again? This is one of the reasons why i didn’t spend money on the plex pass anymore, because this metadata thing is coming more and more common…

How is this so hard to fix it and reduce down time of those services?

Plex Pass has nothing to do with TVDB’s inability to keep their servers plugged into the internet. It may have something to do with the Plex TVDB proxy. Typically the point of a Proxy is to remain working when the original goes missing, but that unsolved mystery continues.

It is the unfortunate downside of creating a service dependent on another outside of your control. Personally, I think Plex should consider acquiring services such thetvdb and tmdb to consolidate and potentially eliminate these types of service interruptions. After all, Plex isn’t a non-profit. At the minimum they could consider creating their own metadata service…

Exactly. They even could put this into plex pass, but those interruptions should not coming up so often…

Hello I also have the same problem with TV shows, do not download metadata. Is there any solution for this problem? For Movies work well.

TVDB has been suffering the ‘Yo-Yo’ effect over the last month or more. Up one moment, down the next.

But having said that you’ll get NO JOY at all if you don’t follow these guidelines to the letter for TV Shows. There is virtually no wiggle room here:

Example:

A TV Show Library/
…The Big Bang Theory/ <----- exactly (EXACTLY) as it’s written at TVDB (when you can get there to check it)
…Season 01/
…The Big Bang Theory - S01E01 - Episode Name Optional.xxx

FileBot (in my signature) can pre-match and re-name all your files in seconds (if TVDB is still on Planet Earth - if it’s off exploring the galaxy all bets are off).
