EDIT2: Nevermind, I think refresh metadata is broken when used for a shows options. After posting this, I tried to refresh metadata on the first show in the anime library, nothing happened. I clicked the “…” on the anime library again searching for somewhere I could choose where to download images from and saw the “refresh all metadata”, I clicked that, and it instantly started downloading posters, including for the show I clicked “refresh metadata” on not even a whole minute earlier.
I’m having an issue with my library not downloading images for television shows and movies. I built a new PC and created a new plex server for it. I added the paths for all my libraries and let plex scan.
It seemed to work itself out over time for some libraries, but not others. Roughly 2 days after the initial scan, my TV Shows library is mostly filled out. Not EVERY show had them to begin with and had to have pictures added manually, I’ll say those shows are PROBABLY the ones that don’t have any pictures now.
Other libraries have no changed. My Anime library only has ONE series that has a picture - Afro Samurai. 125 other shows, including big names that I know data can be found for, such as Dragon Ball and Bleach, do not have images.
I’ve refreshed the metadata on several series’ with no change. When I click the edit button > posters, it shows no posters and gives the option to add one manually by entering a URL or choosing a file from my PC. I am 100% absolutely sure that I did NOT manually add images for 125 anime series on the old PC.
The only thing I can think of is that Plex has changed image providers, I believe they used to be downloaded from the TVDB website (which has ALL of these shows) but I can’t find an option in the settings to choose where it downloads from, so I have no idea if plex still uses TVDB or what.
So what can I do about this? Is there somewhere in the settings I can change where it downloads from to possibly resolve the issue? Should I delete the library from plex and rescan it? I don’t mind doing a few odd balls like I did previously, I even expected it. But I’m not sitting here and finding/creating images for every anime I own…
EDIT: For clarity, I scanned everything at the same time. After the scan, pretty much NOTHING had images, a couple of days later I went back into the TV shows library and nearly all of them had posters, same for movies. However my anime specific and anime film specific libraries have not changed after 2 weeks, so I doubt they’re going to fix themselves like tv shows/movies did.
