I spent a really long time trying to get a certain TV show to show up on Plex.
No matter how I tried, it didn’t work. I checked:
- File and folder naming
- Permissions
- File types
Everything I read about on these forums. I could even see Plex scanning the files in that little black window at the bottom, the names of all the files would show up but the show didn’t appear in my list of TV shows. Other shows in the same folder on the NAS showed up just fine.
After about a day of this, I had an idea: I copied the folder with that show to the local HD of the Mac Mini, and told Plex to look there. Instantly everything was fine.
So I don’t know what it means, or why Plex behaved like that, but there’s a tip for you. If you files are on a NAS or other remote disk/device, try moving them to the Mac itself, it may work.
TL;DR: Plex hated my file on the NAS, but liked them on the local hard disk.
