Some files in NAS files not showing up in Plex Media Server

I recently uploaded a few BBC TV series to my (Synology 218+) NAS Plex folders. One of the series did immediately show in the Plex Media Server on my NAS. To try to fix, I re-uploaded the missing files into the “TV” folder rather than the “Movies” folder. Still not showing.
I’ve also tried the following:

  • Remove the number I added to each file name to denote episode
  • Added “E” to denote “episode” in front of each number
  • Clicked “Apply to this folder,…” in the Permissions window

Other than that, I’m stuck.

Related, why do some files that are TV shows show up in “Movies”? Is there something about the file and can I change that once it’s in the system? With some things, like cartoons, I moved them to the TV file, but they don’t show up in the Media Server in the TV section.

Plex Synology FAQ

Follow Plex requirements for naming and organization.

Mixing movies and TV shows in the same library is not supported and will cause problems with media recognition.

Thanks so much for the links. It took me a bit to follow and to change the file names, but everything seems to be working fine. Thanks again.
