TvDB is not finding matches

I am facing this issue as well with ‘Tyrant’. Come on people, someone have a solution?

Solution: Switching the agent from ‘TVDB’ to ‘movie database’ fixed it for me.

I believe the issue this post was about has been resolved and the current issue is different.

There’s nothing any of us can do as it’s a server side issue, which none of us have control over. The only thing you can do really is to switch the agent, which is a good workaround. Personally I’d leave it until Plex’s TV database (which I assume is some kind of mirror of the TVDB that runs through Plex’s servers instead) is fixed as the movie database won’t match TV shows as well. That being said you can always unmatch it once the TVDB is fixed.

Me too. I even copied the title from the TVDB and pasted it into plex…but no dice…

Hello Everyone! I have been experiencing some similar issues with a few titles myself recently where I would have to manually match upon adding and then re-match every time I added a new episode. I thought maybe my file names were incorrect or something somehow, well I came to find out that the names you give the media files is not the only thing that affects your matching but the actual folder holding those files as well…I also found a software earlier tonight that seemed interesting enough to give it a go and I think it’s a great tool to have too and it’s called FileBot (filebot.net/), it helps match the files you have with the names that the tvdb/anidb/moviedb have so that it’s match friendly on plex. Renaming the folder for the show/anime I was having issues with fixed the issue for me thankfully and was a very minor adjustment but it made the difference in whether it matched automatically or not. I hope this helps someone and feel free to reach out to me if you are curious about anything I stated. :3

I’m having the same issue but with Game of Thrones. It’ll match the show but none of the episode information, images or show description appear.

I was having this problem quite a bit too with certain specific shows and I tried refreshing, unmatching and rematching the show but still nothing. But, I did find that removing the category (in my case the tv shows section), cleaning out the bundles/emptying the trash and the re-adding the section back fixed it up. (Also check the metadata agent/scanner that said section is using) I hope this helps solve your issue too.

I am finding the same issue with Mr. Robot. Season 2 episodes 1-4 show in the same Plex Tv location but episode 5 shows in a separate plex tv location. All episodes are in the same folder on the server. Can anyone send me the step by step work around?

Same issues with the show the Fosters.

Hi! This could certainly be due to naming, sometimes the slightest things make plex a bit bonkers which is why I usually try to pay lots of attention when having issues and attempting to fix them and
this has been one i’ve encountered often enough to say it should be fairly simple to fix. Try looking at the names of those 5 episodes versus the names of the others that are already matched and see if there is anything different about those compared to the others. Also you could try FileBot (filebot.net/) and have it match and rename your files accordingly to the tvdb standard names.

Any chance of a solution to this Plex ninjas? It’s driving me mad - any new shows that get added don’t find matches on thetvdb and require manual attention. This is rubbish. It’s a major feature of the application and it is seriously degraded when it doesn’t work. Just fix it already!!!

FileBot didn’t help…still isn’t downloading metadata

Over the last 8 days any shows I add to my TV library are not matched. Manually searching for a match always returns no results. It is not an issue with miss-matched or not-perfectly matched names,

Nothing works. Tried everything.
The last Plex update really screwed TVDB matching.

In the last week or so one of my NAS TV section is recognized, the other is not. I’ve moved the files to a different folder and connected…nothing, I’ve downgraded PMS, nothing. I’ve installed yesterdays release nothing. It’s odd because Movies are found without issue. I’m really hoping Plex resolves this soon. I’ve been stuck with watching TV shows on the Apple TV via VLC.

Just tried to use TheTVDB to match The Fall Guy, but it says "no matches were found using this agent. If I go to the website, it finds a match. The Movie Database finds a match, but is incorrect.

I am having the same problem thetvdb agent does not always work. Some get through and identify correctly but most do not.
My problem now is with Mr. Robot and some anime shows.

I have a problem with Mr. Robot. When using the TV database, it doesn’t show, however, when I use the Movie database agent, it worked. Problem with the movie database, even though it manage to update the show, the subtitles are gone. It is displayed as none.

Having problem with Blindspot and Mr. Robot as well.
Just updated to the latest Plex Server (windows) version and still no luck with the default TvDB agent.

I managed to correctly match Blindspot with the Movie DB agent, but Mr. Robot is being identified as “Mr.Robot.” (no space and dot at the end) and is not matching with any agent.

I’m having the same issue here as well. The show doesn’t sem to matter. Vinyl for instance won’t match, neither will Star Trek. I am not sure what happened over the past couple of weeks but TheTVDB agent is definitely broken. The only thing that has worked is the Movie Database. Unchecking TheDVDB and checking The Movie Database instead works for now, but some shows get matched incorrectly. Not sure what we can do as users here, but this should be looked at, for sure.

I was just busy writing a comment that I also have the exact same problems. But after choosing TheTVDB again, mr. robot is loading fine now. So everybody try again!

Same here since last shutdown of thetvdb. That api is realy broken. Moviedb works but i cant change the order in agents its not saved.

Now I have problems with subtitles not loading correctly. What is going on here?

So I’m having very similar issues here. Current running TV shows that previously have been matched correctly all the sudden stopped matching at all. And there is no longer an option for the TVDB to fix the incorrect match. Although for some programs switching to the movie database does find a match. This is obviously not the solution. Although, rebooting my PC seems to bring back the TVDB option every time, and for the next couple of days matching works fine.
