At least it’s not embedded metadata making your life miserable.
TVDB is handling that with Plex - and doing a fine job. Apparently.

Briefly (which is how long I messed with the ONE show requiring it Firefly), do your names match the DVD order at TVDB?

If so: Plex Dance the entire show for major Do-Over and see what you come up with.

In the end - it’s probably just easier to name your files following the ‘air date’ TVDB has listed. Seems you could have done that long ago and been watching this thing.

I’m not at your house tho, so I don’t know the details.

I don’t want to name them off of the air dates. These aren’t from broadcast, they’re from discs. What’s the point of having a DVD order, then? I don’t need Plex playing one episode twice in a row, because parts 1 and 2 of certain episodes are really one file. No one should have to apply wrong workarounds because something doesn’t work.

Well, the DVD Order Plex and TVDB have set up either works - or it doesn’t.

If the DVD Order you have, matches what TVDB has, then it should work. If those differ, it won’t.

Well they match, and it doesn’t, soo…

This crap happens all the time. Usually it’s because it’s still downloading metadata. This has been hours of trying refreshing.

Consider using The Movie Database! I was getting incorrect data for the series Night Gallery because it did not interpret the DVD listing correctly. This happen because TVDB is not really good. Create the Library as a TV Shows library but change the the metadata interpreter to The Movie Database. It isn’t just for movies.

Ha. Running into this same problem now. I previously had the US version of the Office in Plex by aired order. I’m doing a re-ripping and re-encoding project and figured I would correct this to DVD order. It’s kind of working…

It’s like the first few episode retain the naming for aired order, but some are pulling the DVD ordering. However, then there is a duplicate episode. It’s not in the screenshot, but The Chair Model is shoing as episode 10 and 14 in Plex with DVD ordering.

I’m currently trying to add Family Guy to my library. I’m naming the files in Aired order and it’s displaying them in DVD order even though Aired is chosen in the top level. When I switch it to DVD order and refresh, it switches them to Aired order. It’s totally reveresed. Very frustrating.

Ok… this is one that’s really frustrating. Beavis and Butthead Mike Judge Collection 1 shows up 90% correct. thetvdb shows correct DVD order and I have enabled the option in Plex for series to pull the DVD order, but the first 4 episodes show up incorrect. I have selected thetvdb as the first agent for shows, looked up the show by series id and done the plex dance… I’ll do these manually, but where is it pulling the first 4 shows incorrectly?
