looks like the OP doesn’t understand what profile 8.1 is.

Plex does not play the Dolby Vision metadata for any files except profile 5 on Apple TV It simply plays the HDR metadata and forces the Apple TV into Dolby Vision mode for 8.1. In exactly the same it does with Profile 7 More in the post below.

It’s single layer Dolby Vision with HDR10 fallback but thanks for the concern. The significance of me knowing what it is and the fact that Plex on Apple TV plays the HDR fallback (not the DV metadata) whilst forcing the Apple TV into Dolby Vision mode is lost on me. It’s not like it’s breaking new…
