UHD 620 not fully support hardware transcoding?

Server Version#: 1.18.7.2438
Player Version#:ios latest/web

I’m running my PMS on windows 10, with an Intel UHD 620, I notice that hardware transcoding isnt really working properly.
for regular h.264 1080p files (down to 720p 2mbps), i’m seeing only hardware encoding, but not decoding. it shows like:
1080p(H.264)
–> SD(H264) ---- transcode (hw)

and for h.265 4k files, there is no hardware transcoding enabled at all.

i assume my UHD620 should support both h.264, h.265 encoding and decoding right?
anything i can do to fix this?

many thanks.

Use an up to date/non crashing Intel iHD driver.
Don’t start Plex as a service.
Don’t use RDP to login and start Plex.

I have the latest drive installed by windows.
I have Plex auto start enabled by default (by Plex? I’m not sure what is a ‘service’)
I’m not using RDP. I’m running windows headless (with a HDMI dongle) and auto login.

Please be aware that all of those are going to look washed out because Plex cannot tone map the hdr to sdr yet. If you must transcode 4k, it should be sdr 4k content only at the moment. Otherwise just having another library with regular 1080p content will look much better than those transcodes.

Check your video driver version, there have been a lot of releases and not all are stable.
