I am sorry - it is your choice - this interim temporary fix was offered until all the regional lineups issues are fixed
@sa2000 The region’s should’ve been fixed 7+ days ago or from the time we were beta testing the Plex EPG before July 1st.
Just look at the mess this is causing, can you understand why some users are defecting???
Dave
Right now I’m at my wit’s end with all of this, seems the end user isn’t as important as we all once thought we were, and sorry for sounding like a stuck record when I say that it just seems that all the developers are after is a quick dirty fix as they don’t seem to know how to fix the software, and when we do get fixes it’s 12 months to late. It again seems that new features are more important than ones that need the fixes. Plex keeps pushing the DVR knowing there are major issues still, not it’s the schoolboy in a darkroom developer mentality or the Mark Zuckerberg mentality that’s not fit for human consumption.
I do not mind the beta testing part of Plex, but it’s the fact that when we let you know of issues it’s “The team are aware and a fix is in due course” or “It’s acknowledged, but I don’t know anything else as Plex has gone quiet!”
I’ve also been waiting, with countless other Android 6 users and other users of various devices for a fix for the none play of files stored on the server yet the same rubbish answers seem to be the “Scripted” ones, a little like the UK ISP industry even you phone them to tell them about an issue.
My apologies for my rant, but after the bombshell of this latest so called messy fix, I’m slowly giving up.
Dave
Just to add to this - as of 6am Saturday morning, 90%(not an exaggeration) of my channels will go ‘TBA’.
I can’t do a manual refresh, as the plex web interface won’t show me the hauppauge tuner I’m using - odd, as it’s recording fine.
Plus, I’m on the public version, not the beta release.
Hi @jester_tenet what EPG are you using (for example, mine is Freeview Meridian/Central OTA Broadcast)?
Hey guys, just wanted to jump in quickly here before my next call with our EPG provider and acknowledge @JCHH @paulsalter and @mw0dcmplex (among others) comments about having some visibility into what’s been reported to date (so you know if you need to report something that has not been submitted, or not duplicate a report of something that has) as well as the status of the individual reports. I truly appreciate those that have taken the time to communicate the issues that you’re seeing with the new EPG provider, and apologize that we have not been as communicative as we should have been.
Also, a shout out to @sa2000 who’s basically been surrounded by
for the last 10 days trying to gather up all these Freeview issues, he may be badly burned
, and I’m pretty sure he hasn’t slept in about 4 days.
Appreciated, thanks.
UK freeview - I can’t tell more than that, as I can’t get to the config to see
Thanks @cire12 for the update
Is there going to be a visible list of what issues have been reported? , I know i have reported some, but cannot remember exactly what, so would be nice to see this as I check the EPG daily and it’s still full of errors
I am against this using of the Freeview national lineup to select local channels as it looks ridiculous and further adds to the annoying cryptic code letters that get added to the stations, if people start using this the main issue will slowly get ignored as there is a workaround
Would you tell people in the US that the zip code they enter is irrelevant, and just give them a big list of all US channels
Plex need to be a bit more proactive in this issue, there must be employees in the UK (or someone who has access to the official Freeview EPG) who can compare what you are providing to what is actually aired to see the errors
can you post a screenshot of whatever you see when you have gone as far as you can?
I’d like to thank @cire12 for adding to the conversation, and to add my thanks to his for @sa2000’s efforts.
That said, those efforts would be even more valued if you could update us even when there’s no news.
News of no news is vastly better than silence. Years ago, when there were delays on train services in the UK, the guards would give no updates until the train was almost ready to head off again. That could be hours, with no news. Understandably, customers weren’t happy.
After privatisation, train companies recognised that customers were getting really POd by this. Now, they give updates every 30 minutes - even if there’s no news.
The train isn’t fixed any quicker, no-one gets to their destination any sooner, but everyone’s happier.
There’s a lesson to learn here.
sure - here are three…
One is of the settings/live tv and dvr screen - after it has tried to find the DVR.
Another is of the live tv schedule for ‘now’.
And lastly, the one from the schedule from Sunday morning
My most recent recording was 04:50 this morning (BST).
I’ve done reboots, updates and shutdowns etc. Nothing- complete outage from Sunday.
Oh, and I have Dave on ch19, but no Dave Ja Vu
Did we ever see mention of what the new provider is?
Just been checking out a show i watch tonight
OTA guide (no season number but it is episode 3 with description)

Freeview Website (season 9, episode 3 with description)

Schedule Direct/Gracenote (season 9, episode 3 with description)

Plex (season 8, episode 9 generic show desciption)
No, that question (asked many times) has continually been ignored. I have a theory that it is ROVI though.
It is also true that most questions have been ignored ![]()
It is. Well, actually, it’s TiVo, but same thing.
@Noah0504 You beat me to the answer!! It’s a US based company that hasn’t got a clue about the UK TV side, but I take my hat off to @cire12 as he’s been telling me the crap he’s had to endure now to get the UK since where it is, still won’t delete my DVR though to get the local ITV Wales in as it takes me an age to remap everything…
Sorry guys, but it’s way too messy at present
Dave
thanks for clarifying. Shouldn’t it be a little worrying that a company like TiVo can screw this up so much (even in the US)? …I wonder of this (cheap?) agreement was a step too far for them with global complexity they failed to appreciate.
in addition, I think Plex should roll back to Gracenote until they fix this.
It’s not like they’re new to this. This is one of the things that TiVo does. Hell, their business of DVRs and set-top boxes revolves around it. I imagine how guide data is used on their products is much different than how Plex is having to go about it. Obviously we don’t know exactly how things are working on the back end, but at the core, I trust that the TiVo data is correct, it just needs to be sorted out – hopefully that happens sooner than later.
I’m pretty sure that ship has completely sailed. I would imagine their past agreement with Gracenote has completely expired, which is why both DVR and Premium Music Libraries have changed as of the 1st of this month.
