@sa2000 Here’s a humdinger … the new Series 5 of Poldark premieres on BBC1 on Sunday evening at 9pm.
My EPG (Freeview Anglia OTA) is not marking it as a NEW episode. Anyone who just relies on an old scheduling of Poldark, with the default of “New episodes only” will miss it.
This is a high-profile show.
Can you hear that … it’s the sound of Plex kit being thrown out the window by long-sufferings other-halves.
Plex, please revert back to Gracenote for the next couple of months for the EPG, and do a lot of internal testing before you switch back to Powered by Plex, which does not work at the moment, and needs a lot of testing before it may work as well as Gracenote
It’s really hard for me to say. We don’t record a ton of shows (mostly just watch live), but I have noticed some issues for sure. Plex failed to record an episode of a show last Friday because the new episode had the episode number of the previous week’s episode. Of course, they show a ton of reruns every week, but that episode isn’t set to be re-broadcast yet – go figure.
Other than that, I haven’t really gone through my guide in the past week or so to see what other issues still exist. I do have 1 channel in my lineup that’s still incorrect after getting all of that sorted out. I’m still waiting for that to be corrected.
I will say, there are 2 shows that I record that almost never had correct information when Plex was using Gracenote (20/20 and Dateline). So far, they seem to be accurate and that’s been nice.
Yup my better half, being a Welsh girl turned into a red dragon and threatened to burn my server!!
Ah, having a day of rest? Today from messing with the server, packing more junk ready for the move… But normal service will be resumed in this household over the weekend, and hopefully get more testing done now I’ve had my little rant above last night!! I had to say what I said though, and I’m definitely not deleting my DVR, can’t waste another 60+ minutes of my life mapping Channels that the tuners don’t see, bit I know I’ve got to retune again across all 3 as we’ve got another local radio station in the listings… Wonder what the EPG will say… Ah, I know “Radio Programming”
I know that the company I worked for (22 years) would have negotiated an emergency extension contract to provide customers temporary cover whilst they fix the problem.
Looking into and will be discussing with the team and our provider. I do not believe it is a new error but the process for new feeds may need to be tweaked
May be you need to do a full guide refresh
I can see a 5-minute discrepancy but not the issue that you are seeing
As mentioned in the update you got from Plex, I am busy flat out processing the issues and so may not be here regularly picking up issues. But will have a peek every now and then
@JCHH a 5 minute window of discrepancy, means a lot when recording, especially when it finishes 5 minutes before it officially does, r recordings matter, there’s nothing as irritating as a recording that’s finished to early!!
What @sa2000 doesn’t;t appreciate is not only have I done a refresh, but I have deleted and re-installed my DVR countless times in the last (what date is it now in July?).
If there are changes to channel numbers, it is necessary to delete the DVR and re-create to pick the new channel numbers
If there is an issue with program data then a full refresh may resolve the problem when the problem is noticed.
The incremental automatic refresh of the guide data in Plex Media Server may be missing updates that are coming through later than anticipated from our provider. This is an area that is being looked into.
So basically if you are noticing issues like those - then try a full refresh and if that fixes it, do report it as more evidence for problems with the current feeds and the incremental automatic refresh
And of course also report it, if the manual full refresh does not resolve - or as in the example above showed up another issue - the 5 minute difference
I’m helping @markcs test a script he is writing to get the EPG data directly from the freeview.co.uk site. He has already written one for the Aussies and is kindly converting it for us.
In testing, I have noticed that your channels (above) are also not available on the freeview website which you would think is the master source for Freeview (that TiVo/MOVI gets its data from).
All the missing freeview channels are:
060 Sony Crime Channel
062 True movies
077 TCC
083 Now 80’s
084 Now 90’s
100 Freeview
208 Pop Max
211 Letchup TV
235 Aljazeera Eng
251 365 Travel
252 Kiss Chat & Dat
253 Proud Dating
263 Son life
265 onwards…
@sa2000here has written that some have been fixed. As I don’t use them I haven’t checked but thought you might like to know that @markcs has a script right now that pulls 24 hours of EPG from the HDHomeRun itself. You can get it here. Note it’s the hr_epg.pl script you want to use. The others are Freeview Australia. It’s great in a pinch.
@sa2000 yup, that refresh solves that specific 105 5 HD problem. I say “specific” because I had to hunt for the error as it was always 95% correct with the odd problem. Do you believe that it is completely right now?
That leaves me (I know others have way more) with these wrong channels (all reported with the form):
019 Dave - 1 hour out
054 Paramount - no data (again)
079 Dave ja vu - 1 hour out
104 4 HD no series/episode data
109 4 HD +1 no series/episode data
