Investigations are ongoing with our provider
yes, but where a decent UK Freeview xml link to use?
So far, looking at how WG++ is configured you should be able to use the one on TVGuide.com but I’m still looking at that app rather than using xmltv.
@sa2000 so the way the guide is provided by Plex is changing this month? Or have I missed something? How long have investigations been going on? You’ve now seen how many users in the UK are unhappy with the Freeview EPG as a whole, and the way Gracenote treat us as Plex users.
Will we be given a definite answer sooner rather than later?
Dave
The best one for the UK is provided by digiGuide.
They have the best source of epg data in the UK. They have api xml and web sources for use.
They are here https://digiguide.tv/
I used their source in the past when I was using gbpvr but stopped when i switched to plex. Also they have 6 to 8 weeks recording available at anytime and their data is very accurate.
How about looking there.
I used them a lot (years ago). Have just logged in but cannot see an xml feed - I’ll keep looking.
Have just seen that Plex is changing providers for TV guides from July 1st, does this affect the UK also @sa2000 or will we be left out in the cold?
I like the sound of digiguide, but will the free account show XML creation?
Dave
I’ve just taken a look. The free account definitely doesn’t. I’ve emailed whether the basic web subscription (£ 2.99/yr) does. …but reading the FAQ it seems you need to log into an FTP site to retrieve the info (as opposed to them providing an .xml feed).
OK, Plex’s EPG just worked (and at normal speed). Can anyone else confirm?
A change has been made and I have tested the cardiff post code and lineups were fast appearing and channel scanning quick
The issue is fixed
@sa2000 thanks. Can you share what happened? …are we using the new provider now?
Hmmm let me look when I get home from work. I used to get a xml feed via a Json interface. Need to double check.
@sa2000 Cardiff? Wenvoe? Are all the channels there? Or are we still missing some?
I’m just heading home, I’ll be able to clarify later…
Dave
I’m Oxfordshire and all the channels are there.
Some bad caching at our provider end. There were some failures and the failure responses were cached compounding the problem and prolonging the initial short outage
I tried CF31 and CF39 and both worked
I am going to mark this topic as solved, Hope no objections
@sa2000 You’re going to mark a topic as solved yet some of us are still missing channels? I’ve done a remote scan on one of my 3 tuners in the CF39 postcode and I’m going to let you finish my sentence as I’m on the bus home…
Dave
@sa2000 and @ChuckPa Missing the same guide channels as I posted earlier, so caching issue or no caching issue, the dropped channels are now a serious issue and this needs to be fixed, so it’s partly fixed, not fully.
Are we doomed to go on with Gracenote Freeview Dropping channels for the duration even though the channels are broadcast and Plex’s current EPG system just isn’t working?
Have Plex bitten off more than they can chew with the Live TV/DVR? If you’re going to supply a EPG system supply the one like on Emby, as I’ve read this has all the channels in the area I’m living in.
I’m not going to jump to another Media Server, not after shelling out for the lifetime pass on here.
All we’re asking for is a EPG system that shows all the channels, not ones that seem to be hand picked by users!
I don’t think you understand how upset and angry after paying for a system to use, when don’t get the full one…
Dave
The issue must be a Plex issue and not a Gracenote issue if this is correct
Both Plex & Emby use Gracenote
