Unable to access plex library on synology dsm 7.0 nas after plex password reset

Server Version#: DSM 7.0
Player Version#:
If you have to change your Plex Account Password, after doing so you will need to “CLAIM” your library again. To do this do the following:

go into your DSM 7.0 NAS,

go to PACKAGE CENTER

click on INSTALLED option on the left

click on the PLEX app

click on the URL link showing that points to your Plex library

sign into Plex with your new password

go to SETTING

on left click under Settings click on GENERAL

on the right you will see a button in yellow saying CLAIM, click it to claim your library

wait a few minutes and it will complete,

log out and log back into all devices to verify library working again.

Hope this helps all of us Synology NAS users get through this annoying process Plex puts us through now and again. With all the different systems that Plex can be installed on and different processes, they never break it down clearly for each method. Luckily we have a good group of Synology users here to help the rest of us out.

@WarReaper-1

The DSM 7 and above package includes the “Plex Claim Token” capability.

This will reclaim the server for you while the package installs.

Instructions with screenshots are here.

This seems kinda more risky, completely uninstalling the Plex Server. The way I listed is harmless in my opinion.

@WarReaper-1

I wrote the SPK packaging.

  1. You get the claim token from Plex.tv
  2. You paste it into the installer block
  3. The installer negotiates with Plex.tv passing the token you gave it.
  4. It writes the new credentials into your Preferences.xml file

It’s all held in the shell variables and then forgotten when installation completes.

It’s based on secure access to the NAS. If you don’t have that then there are other issues to resolve.

I have performed the password the password reset as well as all the friends I shared my libraries. I have no trouble accessing my plex contact on or off my local network with "Fully accessible outside your network”. none of my friends can access even after a password change and reinviting to my server. does anyone else have the same trouble or has found out how to resolve?

@john_nixon

Please make certain DEBUG logging is enabled, VERBOSE is disabled.
SAVE if you make changes.

  1. Restart PMS
  2. Wait 3 minutes for it to complete initialization
  3. Now start a playback. (recreate failure)
  4. Settings - Server - Troubleshooting - Download Logs
  5. Please attach that ZIP file here

so I personally have no trouble to log. friends have “server not available” message. so basically anyone with a different account cannot access. i can access and stream on and off line without eny issues….

Have they restarted their players ?

(one of the biggest pains-in-the-butt)

so i decided to create another plex account using my wife’s email. i set it up on a vpn account to make sure everything i do is off network on that account. I sent an invite to her which she accepted via the email. now i show up on her account as a friend sharing all libraries. my account shows her in my friends list as expected not waiting on reply. what is weird is that the “more” option is not present. plex recognizes the friend connection but is not actually allowing the share.

yes reset, clear cache and data.. the whole works.
