My Mac Mini’s Hard Drive which contained all my Plex-related files (not including my media, which is on separate external drives) died. I replaced the dead drive and I could have saved Plex, but decided it would be easier to just start it from scratch. Apparently I was wrong.
After downloading the server app, it took me to the web interface (which I’ve always despised ever since they switched to it instead of the desktop interface, but water under the bridge I suppose), where it showed my old server. I deleted the old server since it basically no longer exists and won’t again. However, I am now unable to figure out how to add a the new server and/or Libraries. The server app seems to be running “fine” on the top taskbar; I’m able to go to it and click on “Preferences” or “Open Plex…” so that it takes me to the web interface, but once I’m there, I see no options to add any libraries or media. If I click on “Media” on the left column, it tells me to download the server app, which I already have, and which is what directed me to that web interface in the first place. In the wiki on how to add libraries/media, it says (emphasis mine):
- Click
to open the settings menu - Ensure that the correct Plex Media Server is selected within the settings menu
- Select Libraries under the Manage section of the settings menu
It says to ensure the correct Plex Media Server is selected in the settings menu, however, in my settings menu it says nothing about any servers what-so-ever. It says, “Plex Web - General” with some basic settings, but nothing about any servers.
Does anyone have any advice on what I need to do to get my server back up and running, without having to create a new email address/Plex account?
Thanks for your time!!
