Unable to add local library even after reinstalling

Hey folks, I’ve installed plex media server (v1.42.2) on Windows.

Opening the client (http://127.0.0.1:32400/web) from the “plex media server” app in the tray. I don’t see any add library button, clicking on home → your media takes me to a screen that says “get plex media server”. I already have it installed.

Things I’ve tried:

  • deleting %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server
  • deleting the Plex, Inc. registry folder using regedit
  • reinstalling PlexMediaServer

Still no luck.

How do I reinstall this thing, I just want to add a library on the same computer.

You need to claim the server. New Claiming Requirement for Windows

After editing the registry, you need to use the task tray icon to stop Plex server. Then use the regular Windows Start menu to re-start the Plex server.
