Server Version#: 1.29.2.6364-7000
Player Version#: Not Sure
I am using @ChuckPa’s modified version of the Plex Server package to be able to run on my Synology server. I am trying to add my content to my Plex Server but it isn’t showing up.
I have made sure all permissions in the shared folder, and each folder with content is giving Plex admin perms (I know it doesn’t need admin, but I gave it admin to minimize any errors). I made sure to reboot the Plex Server app after changing permissions.
I also followed these steps in this post by @ChuckPa, but this did not solve my issue
That should work. I’ve used the same process on my Synology many times when creating shared folders for Plex.
Can you reboot the NAS? It should not be necessary, but it helps sometimes.
Edit: FWIW, I just ran through the steps on my DS918+ and everything worked. I created /volume1/Plex_Server_Content with a movies subdirectory and copied in three movies. As expected, Plex could not see the movies directory, as I did not give it permission. I then granted & removed permission for PlexMediaServer several times using both File Station and Control Panel → Shared Folders. I also tried RO, RW, & full access permissions. It worked every time. That is what is throwing me a bit and why I suggested restarting the NAS.
I tried rebooting it as well. It didn’t work. ChuckPa is working with me in DMs to further resolve the issue. If you can think of maybe any troubleshooting steps, please do let me know in these replies. I am thrown for a loop as well. I’ve done similar projects as this before. I am not sure why it isn’t working.
