Unable to add new users for library access

Hi, I’m experiencing an issue I’ve not had before - whilst trying to add another user to share library access with. I’ve tried a number of different ways, with different email addresses that this user has - and they’re already registered with Plex, but not able to give them access.s

I only have 9 users, and they’ve all been given access with no issues previously.

Any tips would be much appreciated

Hi, could you list the exact steps you follow to grant access? Also, what did you mean by “trying different email addresses”, does the user have multiple Plex accounts?

Sure:

  1. In Plex Web, I go to Account Settings and Manage Library Access
  2. Click on Grant Library Access
  3. And have tried the next step in two different ways - first way was to type in the email address of my friend, the other way was to “add them as a friend” and then try and give them library access
  4. Either method, I then tick box the libraries to share
  5. Then it takes me to that error shown in my post above

I’ve tried adding one library at a time - no change
I’ve tried entering different email addresses to invite her to Plex - no change
She has registered a secondary Plex account in case the first email was bugging, which I’ve tried to add - no change

Hmm, so far I’ve not been able to reproduce your issue :thinking: Which browser are you using? Could you try sending the request to your friend by typing in her username rather than email?

Using Chrome but had the same issue trying on my Android tablet too.

Have tried entering username too. Is there anything I need to check in terms of the server?

I also just started seeing this exact issue today while trying to share my libraries with my neighbor.

I’ve never had an issue with this before.

We’re seeing some other users having issues granting access to their libraries, so we’re investigating. In the meantime could you try this potential workaround:

  1. Add the user as a friend
  2. Go to friend’s list https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/friends
  3. Click on the friend
  4. At the top next to their friend click on the 3 dots
  5. Click on Manage Library Access
  6. Grant access to your libraries

Hi, we think we’ve found the problem. Could you just confirm whether on Android tablet you were using the browser (e.g. Chrome) rather than Plex app itself?

Tried using the Chrome browser viewing in Desktop view, also occuring when using Chrome via Mac Desktop

Hi, we released a new version of the web app (Version 4.97.3) that has a fix, please could you try again and let me know if that resolves your issue?
