I am using the most recent PMS on Ubuntu 16.04 to provide Live TV service to the most current, updated Nvidia Shield TV app. I have established a valid functioning library for DVR service.
As of this morning, I have a functioning grid guide for channel viewing (thanks for that!). Unfortunately, it is impossible for me to change channels while watching a program. While viewing a program, if I invoke the ‘other channels’ functionality and select a different channel, the server/app resorts to two different behaviors: 1) the channel seems to be selected as evidenced by a visible change in the current and upcoming program descriptions but no change takes place and the app simply ‘spins’ endlessly, or 2) The same behavior as described above except that the screen reverts to the ‘opening’ screen of the channel I was already on , giving me the usual options to play, record, etc.
If I exit out completely and select a new channel from either the grid guide or the ‘on now’ screen, the channel changes as expected.
Failed to mention that the TV source is an HDHomerun Connect Quatro. All other apps using this source (i.e. Live Channels, Emby, native HDHomerun app all play back and function without issue.
Hello? Anyone listening? Anyone care? I’m really not a complainer, but a little acknowledgement would be nice. Just looked again at the ‘things that matter to us’ section on the Plex ‘About’ page. Has anyone there done the same or have you forgotten your values? Very frustrating. Look at my profile. I’m an early Plex adopter without a history of either irrationality or vitriol, but it’s beginning to appear as if you’ve bitten off more than you can chew. If a feature doesn’t work on a platform, don’t release it for that platform. If the inevitable bug appears and is reported, at least address the complaint in a timely fashion. For the love of God, just get back to us! We understand your challenges and certainly don’t expect perfection. Just common decency.
I understand the thousands of inane questions you get and the challenges they present to manpower and staffing. But really? A CORE function of your Android TV platform doesn’t work and has not worked for months! You…Can’t…Change…The…Frikkin…Channel in the Android App!!
Noticed latest plex pass release was supposed to fix this. it changed it and sometimes will now let you change channels though it may take more than 15 seconds to do it and changing more than a time or 2 crashes it. With the new boards it has been difficult for me to figure out where to post or if the boards are being monitored for feedback.
I’m with you. The new board format is convoluted at best. As far as knowing where to post and if anyone’s monitoring things, your guess is as good as mine. Thanks for keeping this thread alive. I was a Plex ‘early adopter’ but I’m afraid they’ve bitten off more than they can currently chew. In the meantime, I’ll keep using other apps to provide functionality that Plex claims to offer. It’s a shame, really.
I’m afraid the Android TV platform is low on their list of priorities. Doesn’t excuse the lack of official response to legitimate core deficiencies, however.
