When trying to connect, the error “Refused to Connect” comes up.
What is the package status? Does Synology show it as Running?
Plex is installed in Synology, but when you click the app to open, I get the refused message.
When I go the the Plex app on my desk top, the only authorized server is my Mac. The Synology server doesn’t show up.
I pined the Plex app and the address send to be recognized.
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Marc
I will try that and let you know.

Sharing about the same problem. My SYN NAS DS918+ has Plex Server app installed, but I have to search for it. It is no longer displayed on the app list as it used to be in the past. Under “Run” it alerts, “failed to run”. I’d prefer to keep app on NAS rather than on a client machine. Changed prefs permissions to asign Plex R/W status, restarted NAS but to no avail. Any advice would be appreciated.
I have the same questions of anyone.
- Is it running?
- Which version is installed?
- What are the permissions for the Plex share (show me)
- What are the permissions for one example media share.
Checked and the Plex Media Server shows “RUNNING” in green.
Thanks, Marc
The Plex Media Server shows that it is “Running”. The installed version is 1.16.2.1297. When I click open, I get the error message of, " This site can’t be reached". it refuses to connect. It worked once, but not this. When I open the Mac version of Plex and check the settings, it used to show 2 authorized devices, my Mac and the Synology NAS, but now only my Mac.
Thanks again. I will try this and let you know. Appreciate the help.
Had a friend help for several hours on this. Ran the “claimpms” script, reset the router, cleared out the cache, uninstalled PLEX and reinstalled. Still giving me the same message of refusing to connect. Made sure the IP address remains the same. Extremely frustrating, when it worked before and not this. There seems to be an issue with the program itself. I have made sure I have the lasted version installed. I am hoping you might have some more suggestions to throw out. Regards Marc Green
If I may add to trumpy,
I’d like IP addresses and HOW connected (wifi / same router / browser used, etc) as well please
I will look into that and send you the information tomorrow.
I have attached a screenshot of the error and the Mac is on the same subnet as the NAS.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Marc
If I may ask? Are there some weird special characters in the password?
' " / \ ; &
So, since your last reply, I have changed the Plex PW without any special characters. When I opened Plex on my main computer the address shows the 127.x.x.x:32400. At the top of the page, it shows a massage to claim the server, but nothing happens when the button is clicked.
I appreciate the help and this feels like a simple solution to this but finding it seems to be extremely hard. It worked once then stopped connecting. It connects on the Mac, but refused to from the NAS system.
Any additional advise?
Thanks. Marc
