Unable to connect to PMS

Server Version#:1.13.4.5271
Player Version#:unknown

I have PMS running on my main PC and I have a Synology NAS which is my data store, that PC is running Ubuntu 18.04. I also have a PMS installed on another network PC also running Ubuntu 18.04, and on the NAS directly. I don’t use either of those, they were for testing hardware capability. I’m not sure what happened, but a fully working for more than a year server is completely down, and I can’t for the life of me figure out why.

When I click on my ‘Plex Media Manager’, which normally directs me to my server at ‘http://localhost:32400/web/index.html’, I am getting ‘Unable to connect, Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at localhost:32400.’

I did a Ubuntu update a couple days ago, I am not sure if that caused the issue as I am not exactly sure when this stopped working, it was sometime in the past week. When I log in at plex.tv, I can see the other two servers just fine, but this one reads as ‘The server xxxx is unavailable’

I have read dozens of forums both here and on across the web to no use.

I am not a complete nub on linux etc, but I am by no means a programmer.

I got it fixed!

I found some instructions from a team member named Chuck that he gave to someone else, then I lost the webpage and can’t tell you what the instructions were, but here’s what I did.

I copied /var/lib/plexmediaserver/library/application support/ plex media server/preferences. Then I deleted the file. I then installed Plex Media Server version 1.16.4.1469 (choosing to update at this time since it wasn’t working anyway), and setup a server with no libraries changed. Then I copied all machine data from the saved copy to the new preferences file, and I’m back up. I have no idea what went wrong to begin with, but I’m up again and pleased.

Glad you found it
