Unable to connect to the Plex Media Server on a My Cloud NAS

Server Version#: 1140547 (also tried reinstalling 11214885)
Player Version#: web app (also using on Apple TV, but that stopped working when server became unreachable.

This is the issue I am having

My Cloud EX2 Ultra

I have been up and running flawlessly for over a year, I bought the Plex Pass on Black Friday and the next day (without changing any settings) started having issues, it was not seeing new movies I was loading onto my WD server. While on a business trip my home lost power, the WD rebooted just fine
(I can access the server directly) but Plex no longer sees the server.

after searching forums extensively I have turned off and turned back on the plex app ont he NAS, reinstalled older updates and newer updates, removed and reinstalled the PMS completely and made the mistake of removing the server from my Plex Dashboard. Prior to that is said my Server was unreachable now it just eternally looking for server and never finding it

I can access and play the media on the WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra, the issue seems to be exclusive to PMS

Since I have no access to the server I pulled the logs (I pulled them all) from the Mac iOS
Archive.zip (521.1 KB)

At this point I don’t even care if I lose everything - I just want the ability to use the program back.

I bought plex pass, and WD ( from Black Friday ) it is all waste because plex does not bother to use customer service or proper instructions.

I am unable to find my server from Plex ( fire tv ) since day 1. Just wasted money and wasted energy.

Yep. So disappointed. I contacted Plex billing and asked for a refund on my Plex Pass. This was the BEST set up I have ever had for my digital library. And it just quit working with no explanation. So frustrating.

Same problem here. It was working this morning (dec 11), this afternoon the media players could not connect. The server app would not even load when the configure button was pressed. Did the same thing as noted above by “bekah_et6_net”. Uninstalled, reinstalled newer and older versions of Plex media server on my WD PR4100. None of the media players can see the Plex Media Server because the software seems to have corrupted some how?

Has anyone stumbled on a solution?

I download an app to my fire tv. It DOES see mycloud and plex with the folders and stuff. But plex app does not see it, not in my computer not on firetv.

Here we are waiting for community support but this is something they should look into not us. But I guess all Plex team is out for Christmas holiday.

i read all of these and decided it might be worth piling on. I have had constant problems for the last 4 months getting plex app on ATV4 to find the server WD NAS. for about a week it worked perfectly, then i was back to rebooting twice every time i wanted to watch using plex. last week it won’t find it regardless of rebooting. The complete lack of support is too frustrating for me. There must be a better solution!

I posted about 4 days ago my problem with WD4100 and PLEX media server. Got it working for now. My solution was to remove/uninstall PLEX form the server. Then, in the WD PR4100 server settings/utilities/restore to default I selected “system only”. This restores the system only without damaging your files on the drives. After doing a reboot of the server and desktop computer I installed the oldest version of PMS that I had a .bin for. (Version 1.13.8.5395) I did another reboot of everything to be safe? After PMS had a chance to rebuild all of the database, it was working again. The PLEX media server would load and showed all of my vides, movies, DVR and music intact. The Plex media players (ios, roku and windows desktop) all worked again. Now I am not sure if I want to chance doing a PMS version upgrade or not. It is working, maybe leave it alone - don’t break it? Hope this info may help someone else.

Sadly I already tried this. Did not work.

I reset the system at wd
I reinstall and tried both from Plex download and only the wd store.

I couldn’t get it to work. Right now I download an app to my fire tv to play my files at wd.

Still waiting for a solution for Plex or I’m gonna ask for refund before Christmas. Since nobody cares from Plex customer relations or developers. Why should I care.

Having the same issue, I cannot see the server settings or find the server. I’ve purchased the Plex Pass and even reinstalled everything to no avail. Used to work fine! Not sure when it stopped working.

I tried this last night because it was the only thing I had not done, but it did not solve the problem. Thanks for sharing.

We are sadly still waiting for this problem to be Solved

I think the problem is in how it is registering the authorized device. For example the decoded link below does not reference the MEDIA SERVER product … all the client and context data is wrong on first register.

https://app.plex.tv/auth/#!?clientID=xput54kzqyycnxsq4nw8m5z5&context[device][product]=Plex Web&context[device][version]=3.69.1&context[device][platform]=Chrome&context[device][platformVersion]=71.0&context[device][device]=OSX&context[device][screenResolution]=1680x783,1680x1050&context[device][layout]=desktop&context[device][environment]=bundled&forwardUrl=http://192.168.86.2:32400/web/index.html#?pinID=704083977&code=sneohbiqdlgpuz9h3x3gdv5xa

The link did not work for me… But, any idea how to fix this issue, since I can not configure the server from the WD Dashbaord? Since I originally posted this I have restored my cloud drive to factory settings, which changed the IP address. But when I reinstalled Plex and hit the configure button I am getting the same "site cannot bbe reached’ so I have no way to reauthorize and reconnect it…

After receiving no assistance through the forum I called Western Digital. They asked if I had posted my issue here and made me walk through the troubleshooting steps I posted in my original post with them on the line and then stated “the drivers on your device must have gone bad, since you are u dear warranty we will send you a new one”.

I received the new device yesterday and flawlessly set it back up. Had no problems setting Plex up from the configure screen on the dashboard of the new drive. So, now all I have to do is migrate 6 tbs of data from one drive to the other withinin the next 30 days and send back the old drive.

Hopefully this new drive lasts longer than a 11 months…

What do you mean by drivers in my device ? I bought them about a month ago.

You will have to call Western Digital and ask them, I’m just repeating what they told me. 1 800 275 4932

Sorry. I should have asked the question clearer. You mean the wd devices means the board and other electronic parts or you mean the hdd’s?
