Server Version#: 1.24.3.5033-6000
Player Version#: 4.63.0 (WebApp / Windows 10); 4.9.0 (Samsung WebOS TV / Client Version: 5.25.2) Plex Media Server Logs_2021-10-11_19-43-14.zip (1.9 MB)
Hi guys,
I’ve got a strange problem with Plex. After returning from my vacation, I’m not able anymore to connect to my Plex Server using the Plex App on my Samsung WebOS TV (2020 OLED model). Before the vacation everything was working perfect.
I tried using Plex on my Windows 10 PC, by “LAUNCH” Plex from plex.tv: same problem.
I get an error message saying: “app.plex.tv is unable to connect to “NAS” securely”.
Funny enough: When I try starting plex directly (192.168.0.30:32000), it works like a charm.
Can you tell me what the problem is and how to fix it?
I tried the obvious already:
restart Plex Docker container
restart NAS (Synology)
restart Router (Fritz.Box 7350)
restart Windows PC (including DNS flush)
changing DNS server on NAS (to 8.8.8.8)
Everything without success.
The situation is still the same and it bugs me out.
Why isn’t Plex accessible “externaly” (via Samsung TV Plex App or plex.tv → Launch) but totally works when startig it via local IP?`
Please find the server logs attached.
Thanks a lot for your help!
Thanks for your reply. I already read the announcement.
As I said in my initial post, I have the problem with an almost brand new Samsung WebOS (not Tizen-based) Smart TV and on my Windows 10 PC.
Therefore it has to be something else.
Anything comes to mind?
In some other threads I read that some kind of connection for the user accounts can be reset by Plex admins. Could this help?
They can just reset the certificate which some people are having issues with. I am not the plex guru so you will have to wait on one of them to help you diagnose actual log problems. I would update to the latest plex version for your nas and sign out and sign back into plex on those clients.
I didn’t see certificate issues in your logs but others will know more. clearly you can see you are having an issue being able to connect to the server and your stream never starting. in the interim you can change your settings to preferred secure connection so you can at least connect unsecurely.
Everything is up-to-date (NAS/Server and all clients), has been multiple times switched off/on and logged out/in.
Strange new development: Today Plex started working again with my TV - without me doing anything else for two days. Funny enough, the problem with my Windows PC still exists.
What. The. ■■■■.
The announcement mentions that all versions of WebOS pre 5.0 are impacted – so if your new TV has such an old software, maybe you can get a newer webOS version from LG?
Until then your only chance is to disable secure connections on your server (Settings > [Server Name] > Network)
Thanks for your reply. My TV has an higher version than Web OS 5.0
As I mentioned before, I tried all settings (secure and non secure connection settings) but nothing worked, while I was trying.
In one of my previous posts, I mentioned that on my TV it just went back to working normally.
On my windows PC, I still experience the same problem as described.
I can live with that now but I’m not happy about the error occurring in the first place and the way it got handled from plex (no support at all)
