Unable to force Plex to see TV episodes from different shows as non-duplicates

Server Version#:

I have two TV shows that are separate but Plex keeps labeling them as a single show and thus the episodes as duplicates. Here is an example:

How can I get Plex to see these as separate shows: “Prehistoric Predators” and “Prehistoric: Predators Of The Past”?

Which folder is added to the TV show library?

If it is TV Shows, then you need to move the shows up a level, eliminating the Kings folder, as such a structure is not supported by Plex.

Also, Plex Dance the shows, returning them one at a time to the TV show library.

You are correct, and I have already configured Plex to add “T:\ServerFolders\TV Shows\Kings” to the TV Show library. So, unfortunately, I don’t believe that is the problem here.

I’ll give the Plex Dance a try.

Other ideas?

Plex Dance did the job. Thanks!

And just to make sure, “T:\ServerFolders\TV Shows" is not added to any TV show library, correct?

One more thought…

Any chance bad embedded metadata is throwing off matching?

If configured to do so, Plex will look at metadata in MP4/M4V files. If the metadata is incorrect, it may cause Plex to incorrectly match things.

You can use MediaInfo or similar tools to view metadata.

To check Plex settings:

If you are using the Plex TV Series scanner & agent, edit the library, choose Advanced, and check the setting for Prefer local metadata. If selected, Plex will prefer embedded metadata over online databases. If you change the setting, refresh the metadata for the library.

If you are using one of the legacy agents, go to Settings → Agents → Shows. Drag Local Media Assets to the bottom of the list in all three sections (or just deselect it in all three). Then refresh the metadata for the library.

Thanks FordGuy61 for the additional information. However, your earlier recommendation to do a Plex Dance did the trick. Thank you!
