I’m trying to relegate certain titles in my libraries to only appear in a collection. I also don’t want the collections themselves to appear in the library.
The way I understand this to work, I’d set the Collections option for the library to Disabled to hide the collections themselves. This works.
Then I set the Collection Mode in the advanced settings of the collection itself to Hide items in this collection. This does not work. The items still appear in the library, even when sorted by Title. Is this feature broken, or am I just misunderstanding what these options do?
I’ve searched the forums and found numerous posts about this, but it looks like they’re either old (before the Collection Mode feature existed) or specific to smart collections.
You cannot store items away in a collection and hide that collection too. IIRC there’s a feature suggestion discussing such a feature but it’s received very little attention and doesn’t seem to be a use case Plex have on their radar.
Weird. Then I’d argue the options they allow are confusing! The way they read makes one think it is supported and should work. If the Disabled setting at the library level trumps the individual Collection Mode, then I’d think that option would be disabled for the collections in that library.
Interesting view.
My understanding being Disabled meaning: No Collections for that Library. When disabled leaving the individual parts of a Collection in there sort order.
Hide Items in a Collection:
myself I always took the meaning as the correlation of parts of a said Collection and it’s Poster to be not shown in Library view. When selected leaving the individual parts of a Collection in there sort order. (The result with Minimum automatic Collection also disabled, NoCollections view at all.) No Collections.
My Question now would be when creating a new Movie Library for example, with Collections disabled would there be no Collections at all?
The Answer is there are No Collections in Library view but the individual parts of the said previous Collections are in there Library Sort order. Collection view will exist with the Automatic Collection number parameter allocated. Example : 2 in my case.
Right. So Disabled disables the collection tiles in the Library. It doesn’t disable the concept of collections for the library, though. You still have collections, they just show up only under the collections tab.
