Unable to install new plex server on new w 11 computer

Hello,

Previously had plex running on old w11 computer and wanted to switch to new computer. I installed plex and previously had it running on my old server for a time. I then uninstalled plex, deleted references in user profile, cleared cach, deleted all references in registery and reinstalled. No wizard. No tab or link to install new server. Can someone please advise?

Ensure that you are actually installing “Plex Media Server”, and not just “Plex”.

After installing Plex Media Server, you still need to “claim” your new server into your plex.tv user account. Read here how to do it: New Claiming Requirement for Windows

No, it is not necessary to create a new plex.tv user account.
Nor is it necessary to uninstall the server software from the old machine.
The only thing you need to do, if you have more than one server, and are using a manual port forwarding for remote access, is to create a second port forwarding rule in your router’s settings. This one needs to use a different public (WAN) port number than the rule for the older Plex server.

Thanks for the response. When I try your suggestion I get the following message “Something went wrong. Make sure the server is available and try again.”

I have gone through all the suggestions on the following thread:

“plex stuck on initializing plex media server” to no avail.

What am I doing wrong? I can enclose logs but they are very verbose,. Would any particular log be helpful?

Please copy the URL into here.

Check if you have enabled “verbose” logging. If so, disable it. Then stop and restart the server.

Did you tell your web browser that app.plex.tv should have no access to your local network?
That won’t work. See Important note about Chrome and Firefox Local Network Access

Not sure if I am being clear. I have no access to server on plex server app. When I start setup Plex.html I get a prolinged “Initializing Plex Media Server” message followed by “Something went wrong. Make sure the server is available and try again.”

I have added app.plex.tv to allow chrome local network access but no change in behavior.

Well. I am doing my best.

I have: run Setup Plex.html from the %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server folder

Turned off firewall

I spent an hour with offshore Tp Link and was told that Dns rebinding is not operating on my router.

Opened port 32400 could not connect via http://127.0.0.1:32400/web “This site can’t be reached”

Ran Setup.Plex.html and received message “initializing plex media server” and subsequently “Something went wrong. Make sure the server is available and try again.”

Any suggsestions? Anyone?

Did you forbid your web browser to talk to the local network?

Inspect the properties of the network connection in Windows. It must be classified as “private”, not as “public”.

Network was public, now changed to private and reboot but no change in behavior.

Chrome is on list of apps allowed through firewall.

Unclear on how the Chrome Blog appllies to me but:
