Unable to Match a TV Show

I have recently ripped the entirety of the old 1965 Hogan’s Heroes series. The files, directories, etc. are all named according to the conventions used for every show I have, but refuse to match. Even manually going to match and searching does not find the show so that I can match up. I checked, and it is on tvdb. I have tried multiple variations, including:

  • Hogan’s.Heroes.S##E##
  • Hogan’s.Heroes.1965.S##E##
  • Hogans.Heroes.1965.S##E##

None of these match up, and no amount of manipulation of the name in the Search box in the Match dialog is working. Does anyone have any suggestions they can offer as to why this is failing?

Server Version:1.19.4.2935

try this

Hogans Heroes (1965)\Hogans Heroes (1965) - SxxExx - .mp4

I’ve seen all kinds of suggestions here that haven’t worked, and please, I swear I’m not trolling or anything but I searched here because of the Hogan’s Heroes problem and now I have the exact same thing going with The Three Stooges yet I’m doing a trial with Emby and that is pulling ALL the titles effortlessly.

I tried your suggestion, AgentX, and that did not work. It neither IDed automatically, after library update, nor can I successfully match/fix match to it.

Any other suggestions?

Naming & Organization
Name your files per Plex recommendations. Plex is extremely picky with TV shows. If you vary from the recommendations it might work, but you’re just getting lucky.

For Hogan’s Heroes:

/A TV Library <-- Library points here
 /Hogan's Heroes
    /Season 01
      /Hogan's Heroes - s01e01.ext
      /Hogan's Heroes - s01e02 - Hold That Tiger.ext

Plex Media Server settings
If you’re using .mp4 files, check the setting for Local Media Assets (LMA).
Settings -> Server -> Agents -> TV Shows -> TheTVDB & The Movie Database
Drag LMA to the bottom of the list of selected agents, then refresh the metadata for the show or library. Sometimes metadata embedded in MP4 files can interfere with Plex pulling information from online sources.

The Plex Dance
After renaming/restructuring files, perform the Plex Dance for the entire show (not just an episode or season). Follow all the steps, in order.

I put the apostrophes in; no difference. I will attempt this Plex Dance and see what happens.

It does work:

[chuck@lizum ~.501]$ cd /vie/tv2/Hogan\'s\ Heroes/
[chuck@lizum Hogan's Heroes.502]$ pwd
/vie/tv2/Hogan's Heroes
[chuck@lizum Hogan's Heroes.503]$ ls -la *1

Found a solution. Was not naming convention. I force-quit the Plex server and then restarted it and refreshed its library., and everything updated and matched correctly. Somehow, it seems, it had borked itself up so that it could not connect to the tvdb to pull the matches and metadata.
