I am running Plex Server Version 1.18.5.2309.
Anytime I search for show data, I get 0 results. Doesn’t matter what title I search, I’ve tried matching on TheTVDB ID as well, and still get 0 results.
I’ve seen several posts with this same problem, but no solutions. I’ve tried clearing the Agents cache, wiping the agents, repairing my server install, and finally fully removing and re-installing the server.
I still get 0 results.
Looking at the logs, I am having issues w/ the Agents fetching data. There’s an error repeatedly thrown by the agentservice.py script, and then the search requests all return no results successfully.
I’ve tried several services, TheTVDB, TheMovieDB, and all seem to be showing the same result.
I’ve attached logs showing this, and can get additional logs if needed.

Have you already looked into the network communication? Any firewalls / sandbox restrictions that could restrict Plex from accessing the underlying online databases linked to the agent?
Have the network settings for agents changed recently? This matching was working as recently as 2 months ago. From the logs it appears to be an issue parsing, but I’m open to checking other things.

So this is fun.
Went to grab the requested logs, there were none. Tried to generate some by searching the TVDB and MovieDB via the match option. No logs were generated for either service. Noticed there was another update. Updated to 1.18.6.2368. Search is now working fine.
Could this have been an issue w/ the version of Plex? Is there any info I can provide to help anyone else who comes across this thread? (I came across several of these threads while troubleshooting this myself)

This was resolved with the update to 1.18.6.2368, but as of 1.18.9.2571 it’s now broken again. Due to a hard drive failure, I was forced to move all my media about, and putting it back into Plex, nothing is matched anymore. I’ve cleared metadata, done a forced refresh, and it seems to only look at local information (which is no longer available).
It seems this is broken every other update for me. The only thing that has changed from it working and now currently non-working state is:
- Plex Media Server version from 1.18.6.2368 to 1.18.9.2571
- Paths of all media (updated appropriately in all the libraries)

For anyone curious coming across this, rolling my server back to 1.18.8.2527 fixed my issue. It’s a terrible solution tbh, but the fact that every other update breaks this search is… disappointing.
