I have the same exact issue, fyi fwiw.
Something else Iāve noticed is that the glitch does not happen if a new show is recorded into a directory that has previous episodes already in the folder. The glitch only happens when a show is recorded into a folder with no previous episodes in it. As previously mentioned above, once the glitch happens, moving the new, single episode show out of the recorded folder, rescanning the library and moving the new, single episode show back into the recorded folder, corrects the glitch⦠until a new show is recorded into a folder with no other episodes in it.
To summarize the glitch:
- On the web browser, the only issue seems to be is that the unplayed number of episodes will be incorrect.
- On AppleTV, the āDiscoverā tab throws an error, the āAllā tab says āNothing to see hereā, the āRecently Addedā tab works correctly and the āUnwatchedā tab says āNothing to see hereā.
- On an iOS device the library with DVR recorded shows cannot connect to PMS while every other library can.
Same issue for me - running Version 1.13.9.5439 on Ubuntu 16.04.
AppleTV and multiple CoreElec Kodi devices failing to access / play a recorded DVR folder. All of which were recorded in the last week (since upgrading from 1.13.8.5395)
iPad on iOS 12.1 (Plex Client version 5.5.1) also presents the same symptoms.
I had another folder also containing DVR recordings (not updated in the last week) - it works on all devices no problem.
PC client works a treat after the upgrade on all folder.
Iāll downgrade to 1.13.8.5395 and will let you know how it goes.
Cheers,
@CrouchingWorm, I would back up first, but in this thread, @JimBirmingham said that worked for him:
This is just one more point that strongly suggests the problem is with Plex 1.13.9.
Thank you.
Iāve downgraded (to 1.13.8.5395) - problem seems to be there still for the existing recordings.
iOS devices canāt see the content at all.
Iāll record some new content now and will advise.
Apple TV can see the folder when I sort by ārecently addedā. This will be the workaround for the old recordings I guess (canāt see recordings if I choose āDiscoverā or āAllā).
Happy to upload logs if theyāre neededā¦
Iām also having problems since upgrading to 1.13.9.5439. Plex TV Shows show up on my Roku and Android devices.
Any iOS device include Apple TVs do not show the catalog of shows. I can see and still play on any āRecently Addedā or āOn Deckā shows that are displayed but when I go to the main TV Show section, I see the āHouston, we have a problemā¦ā screen.
I can confirm this shows as well on sharing - my friend is having the same issue when connecting from her iPhone to my server.
I also had the issue with my server running on Linux Mint⦠I ended restoring my db to the date before I upgraded to 1.13.9 and downgraded to 1.13.8⦠the issue is gone now⦠I was also having the issue with the Plex addon for Kodi.
Any updates on this? Roku is still borked.
Funny enough, if I logged in via the āGuestā or a secondary account, I could see all the TV content just fine. I also noticed the count for unwatched was WAY off. I had 1 episode of a show but the Unwatched count said ā40ā.
Itās been 9 days, which is too long for Plex to leave this bug hanging out when so many iOS devices are used to access Plex and are therefore affected. I reverted to the previous version and a backup of my database and everything is now working as it should.
This other thread has more information on this topic. The Plex devs are aware of the issue and are working to implement the necessary changes, and have asked us to be patient.
It has, in fact, been 9 days since this was initially reported, but since the issue is with PMS v1.13.9.5439, it only affects PlexPass members. People using the PlexPass PMS updates are warned, and should always be aware, that doing so means they are often using unstable versions of the server software. PlexPass members are integral in sussing out these kinds of issues, and often work together with the Plex devs to solve them.; when the bugs are ironed out, the āofficialā update gets released to the official release channel.
TL;DR: The affected software is ābetaā, and the devs are working on a solution.
I have disabled auto-downloading the Plex Pass channel for PMS due to the various issues with beta releases for the last several months. If youāre not risk tolerant for whatever reason, itās probably worth getting OFF the beta releases.
Thank you for the reminder that this is Beta software. Iāve been so anxious for new features and updates that I have lost sight of the fact that my family depends on Plex since we got rid of cable. I plan to keep on the Beta channel until this current issue is fixed, then move back to stable for future releases.
Iām a web developer, so I understand bugs creep in, especially during early development and testing. Software is hard.
I have this issue as well, on the beta channel.
There are several forum threads on this. There is an issue in 1.13.9 affecting TV libraries with recorded media resulting in failure to load the libraries on Plex for iOS and Plex for tvOS and also counts are wrong
I have no Plex for roku logs provided by users to establish if it is the same issue
The problem has been referred to the development team
Anyone with the issue on roku please provide logs from the roku and the server

Here is a log for the classic Plex for Roku I just created:
My user ID is prichards14 and I turned on logging around 8:00 PM tonight, 8/23/18.

What time was it when the error arose and what was the error or was it just lost images?
I have the log you attached (removed it due to presence of token) -

Can you report on any progress being made on this nasty bug thatās been around for 2 weeks?
Keep in mind that 1.13.9 is beta software. If you are risk adverse for any reason then maybe get on the stable version of PMS. and not the Plex Pass version.
forgive my rantā¦
Keep in mind, when users paid for Plexpass, we were GIVEN the option of becoming beta testers. It seems strange that this 'privilege is reserved for users who contribute to the development effort, but are always met with adversity whenever a reasonable question is asked - such as when to expect a solution.
I can say that you need to do a much better job explaining that the beta does NOT give users access to developers nor any special area on the forum where information is shared on releases. It is a black box and we are completely kept in the dark if a fix will ever be released. Perhaps that is why you get a ton a users asking when a bug will be fixed, and why you have standardized on āHey, stupid user, YOU are the dummy who decided to install beta software that we dangled as a carrot to get you to pay for features you wanted that are not quite ready for prime time - so deal with it.ā
I take offense every time I see this response, even though I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND. I donāt see why it is unreasonable for anyone to ask, nor unreasonable to answer a target date. Things change, and sometimes the first bug fix isnāt the last to fully address a problem.
āend rant.
This is one of the top issues that the development team are looking into. A fix will be released as soon as they are in a position to do that. I am sorry I have no more to say on this but it is within the top list of issues
