Likewise Sony X90, buildin Android TV. Plex no longer working. “Unable to play media”

2 x Sony Bravia working 15th November, both give “unable to play” errors 16th November.

Server is connected, music plays from server. Database contains correct files and artwork.

Plex plays correctly on PC, Apple TV, and Android phone app.

Same problem with mt Sony Bravia…Amazon fire stick and Roku sticks both working.

just figured out the solution to this issue… this is the first version of the app that does not have full backwards compatibility with the latest automatically updating version of the server. To resolve this issue manually download and update to the newest version of the plex server.

Same problem here, “unable to play media”. I have 3 x Sony Bravia with Android TV (KD-55XF9005, KDL-50W808C, KDL-43W756C), Plex no longer working. Sony Plex App Ver 7.24.3.13840

I just updtaed to Version 1.18.2.2029 and it worked like a charm! Thanks!

Updating to the latest server version manually worked. Everything is good again. :slight_smile:

Hello guys, I am running Plex Media Server on Thecus NAS, and I couldn’t find the latest version of Plex Media Server for it. How do you guys download the working version? I have a Sony Bravia, I am not able to play media :(((

Exactly the same issue - same version of Android Plex app for Philips-Tv 7.24.3.13840

Didn’t read the entire thread - i manually updated my Plex media server, and now it works like a charm again!

For those that have this issue … I have two Sony TV’s here, got the “Unable to play media” on the Plex clients on the both TV’s. I am using Plex server on Synology.

Updated to the latest Synology Plex server build on the Synology NAS and that fixed the problem.

I used an older version earlier, as this was the most stable version for me. Now that some TVs from Sony, Pana and Philips are not working, I need to update my PMS to the latest version. What has changed between the older and the newest versions, in relation to this problem? Why are we being forced to use a different / newest version?

This does not work for me. I’ve tried everything now. At first, it said “unable to play media”, but it is now saying “media not found”. Only on my Sony TV, web player is fine.

@exzacklyright it says couldnt find media. try to rescan your medias again.

Same here - Samsung TVs work, web works, everything works but not the Sony TV (android). I have reinstalled all of the apps on everything multiple times. Samsung TVs did not work last night until In manually updated to the latest version, and reinstalled the TV app, and now the Sony doesn’t work.
