Unable to remove existing DVR

Server Version#: 1.19.4.2902
Player Version#: various
Tuner Make/Model: xTeVe v2.1.2
Using XMLTV?: Yes

Hi everyone - I’m trying to get xTeVe working with my nVidia Shield TV pro (2015) and my IPTV service and am having some trouble. I had to delete my existing DVR because it wasn’t showing the correct number of tuners for some reason and now when I try adding it again I get error: “The device is in use with an existing DVR.” There aren’t any existing DVRs so I’m stuck on where it could be still seeing the DVR from. I get the orange bar at the top of my screen that shows the xTeVe tuner is detected but when I go to add it again it isn’t automatically found.

Any ideas?

DVR isn’t automatically found (same network as Shield)

Continue button lights up when I manually enter the IP:

Can’t scan channels but Continue lights up when I select a country:

It scans my ZIP code:

This is where I get stuck:

I answered my own question…

I figured out how to edit the Plex database on the Shield, deleted the database reference to the messed-up DVR, and then was able to re-add it with the correct number of tuners. I’m all set!

For those interested in the steps to fix…

  1. Enable nVidia file sharing (access the nVidia Shield share from Windows)
  2. Stop the Plex media server.
  3. Copy the com.plexapp.plugins.library.db database file from \\internal\Android\data\com.plexapp.mediaserver.smb\Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Databases to a folder somewhere on the Windows desktop.
  4. Using any SQLite editor (I used this one: https://sqlitebrowser.org/dl/), browse to the table media_provider_resources in the database and delete the old DVR references.
  5. Make a backup of the original DB file before proceeding.
  6. Copy the modified DB file from Windows back to the nVidia Shield.
  7. Start the Plex media server on the nVidia Shield.

Thanks!
