So I am moving my movies and tv shows from /volume1/docker/deluge/movies/“various movie folders”
to
/volume1/homes/plex/“various movie folders”
So the new folder got created and I copied a movie into but when I run the scan library function nothing appears. It states that there’s nothing in there when I know there is.
When I created the new library on plex it sees /volume1/“top level folder” but doesn’t see any of the subfolders on the NAS. When creating the folder I had to manually enter the subfolders.
Any reason I don’t see the subfolders?
I googled about and found people with similar issues but not close enough.
Their issue is not seeing all files in the folder.
I’m going to try one thing that is probably the cause, it just occured to me, I probably need to put it under the “docker” folder since my plex is in a docker container.
Sounds very much like a permission issue.
Does the local plex user have access to his folder?
If this is the actual Plex data folder… don’t move your media into that but use a different share instead!!
“oh dopy me”, that was it. Didn’t pay close enough attention to my folder layout.
So because I’m using docker I need to keep that folder structure for plex within the docker path. My test worked so I can now move all my stuff.
Unless you’re hard set on using docker, and are willing to live within its limitations, I would recommend you consider the native package for PMS. It’s fine to load other tools in the containers in “host” network mode so they all talk.
