Unable to set restrictions for "Other Video" sources

I set up an “Other Videos” collection specifically for kids’ videos and movies so that those don’t appear in the general Movies and TV Shows collections.

There is no option to set restrictions for managed users with Other Video sources, so none of the videos show up for the managed users, so none of these children videos appear in the devices given to my children to consume these videos.

I know I can migrate these to either the Movie or TV Show collections, but I would like to put all the ripped content in a single category that I know is safe for underage viewing.

‘Other Videos’ are just ‘Movies’ in disguise.

Thanks for the reply, but unfortunately the problem isn’t solved. I added a new rating to the “Other Videos” and I saw those restrictions appear as options for the managed users, so it should work.

Here is the setup:
–> I have the restrictions for managed users set to rating for Movies: G, PG, PG-13
–> All content in the “Other Videos” library set to “PG”
–> There is no content in the “Other Videos” Library when logging in as a managed user.

Other steps taken:
re-scanned the other videos library
analyzed other videos library
updated metadata on other videos library
unshared all libraries and shared only other videos

None of these steps have delivered results.

Any ideas?

Do you have also set ‘label’-based permissions?

Label restriction is set to “Allow all labels”, no content has labels

Which client type(s) are you using and when did you last update your server software version?

Because I cannot replicate your result over here.

Server info: Plex Media Server (plexpass) v 1.16.6.1592 (Running on FreeNAS 11.2-U6)
Client: PLEX V6.3 (iOS)

I’ll update the server see if that helps, I see that I’m behind a few minor versions.

Please compare results with the web app app.plex.tv
just to verify that we are not looking at an iOS app issue.

The web app works as expected. I have not updated the server yet, so behavior could not have changed from that.

This might be an iOS issue. I’ll go ahead and add all the children’s movies to the general movie library.

Thanks for all your help.

@OttoKerner for the record, I removed the “Other Videos” library and created a new one. This new one worked across the board, on all devices.

Please consider this issue resolved on my end.

Glad you got it working!
