Unable to tune some channels, can tune others

Server Version#: 1.28.2.6151
Player Version#: 4.90.1
Tuner Make/Model: Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD PCIe
Guide/Lineup name: ?
Using XMLTV?: (I don’t know what this is)
Channel number/Name: ABC is channel 4.1, NBC is 6.1
Plex Media Server Logs_2022-09-13_07-36-09.zip (3.5 MB)

This has happened for over a year now. Here is the list of channels I CAN tune:
2.1 - CBS
7.1 - PBS
7.2 - PBS World
7.3 - PBS Create
7.4 - PBS Kids
28.1 - Fox

Here is the list of channels I can SOMETIMES tune (sometimes they work, sometimes they just hang):
6.1 - NBC

Here is the list of channels I CANNOT tune:
4.1 - ABC
22.1 - CW

I verified that the Hauppauge tuner works perfectly on all channels. Also, my antenna is also hooked up to my TV (without going through Plex) and can view all channels as well.

Side note: I noticed that when viewing a channel I can tune, it would play for about a second, pause (buffer?) for 5-10s, then play uninterrupted. Not a huge problem, but would be nice to not have the pause.

Ping on this. Had this hit again while attempting to watch SNF on NBC tonight.

The channels are reporting 0 strength and quality, you can try removing and reinstalling the drivers but there isn’t much Plex can do for an unsupported card.

This should be supported. This card is here:
Amazon.com: Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD PCI Express TV Tuner Card 1609 : Electronics

Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD PCIe which is listed as supported here:
Supported DVR Tuners and Antennas | Plex Support

I can tune these channels on my TV that is hooked up to the exact same antenna and the Hauppauge WinTV tuner on the box with the card.

I have a similar issue; same tuner equipment- issue of not being able to record nor tune in NBC

New beta 1.29.1 has improved Plex Tuner Service, see if it helps with the tuning.

Upgraded to the latest beta and still having the same issue:

Any thoughts?

I’m using the same Quad tuner for my PMS. I have found that the quad tuner seems to act like a quad splitter, splitting up the incoming signal into four weaker signals going to each tuner. When you connect your coax directly to the your TV you have an unsplit (stronger) signal coming in. You may need a stronger pre-amp on the coax going to the Quad tuner. What is your pre-amp setup?

80% of the time it is the Hauppauge drivers, probably because of some Windows update. Removing the drivers and cleaning the registry before re-install has helped several people. That doesn’t let Plex off the hook and there is another thread where they have asked for additional information.

You might also consider that the network may be putting a DRM Copy Protection flag on their broadcast.
This may be the case if you can watch NBC, but when SNF comes on, all of a sudden you cannot watch it. I noticed this years ago when the local ABC station put a CP flag on a football game but after the game it was gone.
I wish the FCC would abolish the CP flag.

Plex might be able to add a feature; when there is a CP flag Plex displays a message “Copy Protection enable by broadcaster. Unable to tune channel” instead of some arbitrary error code or “Weak Signal”.
